I flew in my dream for the first time in ages. But I was just suspended in my room, like a black figure. The air felt thick, as if i was swimming, and i couldn't move very far.

Could anyone explain this? It felt like a self-defeating flying dream.

Hi there

I have dreams quite often of floating or being lifted in the air and spun around. I find them quite scary.
I read on the net recently that it's part of waking up in sleep paralysis, does this happen to you often? Where you wake up and can't move your body or feel like you're being pinned to the bed? It happens to me quite a lot also, and sometimes when I am dreaming about floating I wake up and can't move.
I don't know if there's any explaination for it really but that's apparently where dreams about floating/flying come from, there's a connection between the two.

If you google sleep paralysis you might get some more answers!!

I too used to have floating/swimming type dreams.

However after chatting to my doctor, he prescribed some tablets and advised me not to drink anything for a few hours prior to sleeping.

Now that particular problem has ceased, and my sheets remain dry……..
