Actually Amnesia, many colleges across America require that you take at least 2 years of foreign language in highschool, and I believe the highschool classes of 2017 on up will be required to take a foreign language class in order to graduate.

I don't think its all of the highschools, but it'll probably be alot of them.

Many schools across the world require you to take a foreign language. But I don't see where it said it was mandatory for US students to take "Spanish" as there foreign language.

It could be Spanish, Russian, German, or whatever. The bottom line is it ISN'T English.

Yes... that's why it's called a "foreign" language . You think it's bad for Americans to be forced to study a foreign language for 2 years?

Sorry, I was just saying that the public education system is gradually forcing us to speak a language other then our native language-English. That is wrong and is detrimental to our soverignty.

Why? and how so?

Abraham lincoln once said that a "house divided against itself will not stand." A nation where everybody speaks a different language and is unable to communicate in an efficient and organized fashion will fall. English allows us to communicate with eachother, therefore, it should be the national language of the united States.

I played basketball in highschool, and at all times, we were on the same page. We didn't go off and do our own thing. We worked together. Whatever play was called, whatever defense was called, it was our job to make sure that it was run properly. If two of our players played man to man defense while the other 3 played zone-when we were ALL supposed to play zone defense-the opposing team will get easy buckets on us.

Language is the same way. A countrys citizens must be able to work together and communicate-how can they do that if they don't know what they are saying to eachother?

A nation with a bunch of different toungs is like a basketball team that has its players running whatever defense each individual chooses: its doomed to disaster.

Your analagy sucks . Still dont see what the harm is in studying a foreign language. Throwing in a year of Spanish with Biology isn't going to destroy the USA.

Its not a "year" of Spanish. Its going to be a mandatory two years by 2017 for highschoolers, and knowing how politicaly correct the media and our public education system is, they'll probably push for 3 or even 4 years eventually.

Over time, that will bring down this nation-among the other things that are already bringing it down.

Do note that while learning a foreign language is mandatory, the US doesn't exactly force you to use it. It's not like by studying 2 years of German, you can forgo 2 years of proper English. Besides, it's not like they're saying, "you MUST learn Spanish". It could be any language you want.

I mean, they have second language training in Europe as well, but you don't see the French stop speaking French because they know English.

Math and science are core topics. I think that they should always be taught-and in all categories possible.

Our government hasn't made it the official language.

As it stands, English is the unofficial US language, and the immigrants that came here aren't required to learn it.
