Hi I am a 34 y/o male who just had his ears pierced at the request of my girlfriend. She has been hounding me for ages to get my left ear pierced for her but I wasnt really interested. Yesterday when had arranged to meet up with her to go shopping she informed me that she had booked in and payed for me to get pierced at the salon that she goes to and that i had to go now. Anyway I decided to go along with it and found once I got there i was not getting 1 piercing but 3. She wanted me to get both lobes pierced as well as my left cartlidge. We are both happy with the end result.

OH LOOK JULIE H IS NOW "Trav1174"
what a stupid story...

Totally agree.

You can spot it's her by the fact that she's written "I got there and found out I wasn't having 1 but 3".

Yeah right!

I'd agree with the Colonel, in that there is
No reason that will ever satisfy your father -

he's just taken a decision and your personal choice is beyond his understanding of the world - there is an opinion which does not agree with him.

How do you know Trav1174 is Julie H? Maybe he's her boyfriend. And for what it's worth I think it's a cool story. Trav, glad you're happy with your new look and congratulations.

yeah tom get yer left ear done. i love blokes wiv an earring. most men i have been out wiv have had an earring. if they dont have one i usually persuade em to get it done. ive found that most boys secretly want one but feel girly about gettin it pierced. i can understand why u mums get your babies ears pierced it looks so cute. me and my mate saw a little boy about 2 yrs old with a chunky 1 inch gold hoop in his ear and he looked so cute he was gorgeous.

I let a girl persuade me to get my ears pierced. Best thing I ever did!

Cool! I love my pierced ears and think they look great. Best thing I ever did also!

Lewi_D, I think you are confusing me with another guest. I still havent asked my parents, so I am not sure what their reaction will be.
I am still hesitant to ask them.
any more help/suggestions/thoughts?

I really don't know what you expect.

It isn't as big a deal as you might think it is.

Let's face it - if you won't ask them now, you won't next week, next month, or next year. So, it's up to you. What do you want?

If you do - ask. If you don't - don't. You've been here for quite a while and haven't asked. I see no reason why you won't be here in several months time.

As a father of four, I can say that though your parents may not approve of it, it is not a big deal. It's not permanent, it's not massive, it's not radical, it's not life changing or life threatening - it's minor.

You parents will know that!

I understand your hesitation, but put it into a rational parents perspective - it is a little hole in the ear to insert a little piece of metal, which is a popular thing for lads nowadays. Where is the problem?

All of the above were things my wife and I thought on when my eldest (now 18 ) asked to get his done two years ago.

If you don't ask - you'll never get!

If all parents were as sensible as you are, he wouldn't have such a hard time asking.
But if you look in some venue such as Yahoo Questions you discover that a lot of
parents are just incredibly closed-minded about earrings for boys, so their sons
pick up on the idea that it is dangerous even to think about getting one.

Confusion

Yes, I'm thinking of the Guest from May 26th saying that his Dad is a good Christian looking for one reason (acceptable to his standard/beliefs ) why you should have earrings.

As the Colonel says, No reason will ever reach his standard - set of course, by himself. . . .

For your own parents, you'll never know unless you take the step of asking them.

A few posts ago, I told you guys about my strong christian dad. I talked to him about it some more and he said that he would think about it since there wasnt really a good reason for me not to, and that he really couldn't find a reason to say no. My 16th birthday is coming up soon and he said that this might be a present for me.

If he's a strong Christian, follow his Biblical advice, and then, as a side issue, do your ears as well, if your dad lets you.

YAY! He finally agreed to let me! I can't wait! I'm having a d=hard time choosing what to get pierced with. I either want round CZ studs in both ears or the silver balls in both ears. What is all of you all's opinion? I can't wait to finally feel the metal stud pierce my ear!!! Very Happy

Congratulations on getting the OK from your dad to have your ears pierced. You will have to wear whatever studs are used to pierce your ears 224/7 for four to six weeks until your ears heal, so you want something that will look good with whatever clothes you might be wearing. CZ studs go with most everything, so I would recommend those.

For once, I have to say, I'm glad I was wrong.
