Stick or not?

Postby Kalith on Sun May 20, 2007 4:32 am

Just a question, thought I'd ask.

I drive a manual. It drives me crazy driving an Auto, don't know why, just hate it.

Hehe true. But if i am focused on driving, and my lap is empty, my gf tends to fill the void.

Manual. Used to drive an automatic, but driving a manual is much more fun, much more involved, you control the power band and have better response.

My cavy was a manual, my Z06 is a manual, and the Lancer I'm looking at is also a manual. I see a trend here, lol

Yup exactly why i find it BORING to drive an auto. Not to mention for all the added bonuses a manual provides. an auto is usually more expensive

Just adding an auto trans to a car is usually $1000+. Specially now with cars coming with the sport-shift or tip-tronic shifters (Auto's with "manual" mode". My buddy owns a Mazda 3 with an "sport shifter" and the trans itself if $1700. Pretty ridiculous. Also, if somethign goes wrong with a manual, it usually doesn't cost much to fix, and there are many elements fixable. Shift cables, synchros, etc.

Not to mention the peformance tends to be lower. And auto trans. tend to ware faster. So not only more expensive to repair, but you must do it much more.

Used to drive a Miata w/ a manual. Fun, but here in traffic-clogged So Cal got to be a bit tiresome after a while. Now I have an '05 Mustang w/ an auto.

I've never driven an auto before, mainly because they dont seem to be very common here but also because if I had learned in an auto I wouldnt have been qualified to drive a manual. Autos sound a hell of a lot easier to drive but then Im finding driving mine very easy now. I like driving up to a corner in 3rd, then braking so you end up just at the right speed at the right moment, swinging round in 2nd.... aahh.... much more satisfying I would imagine than having the car do it for you

A chick driving a manual? Are you single? LOL

Don't find many girls around here that know how to drive manual. All the girls in their damn Eclipse's, Mustang's, etc are all auto's.

Well, in the states, most people perfer auto's cause their lazy. Meeting people that don't know how to drive stick is pretty common here. Hence finding a girl that knows how to drive stick is few and far between. My first car was an auto (93 LeSabre), then I upgraded and bought my new Cavy that was stick and I've been with manual's ever since.

You may not have gotten it off a scrap heap, but it sounds like you stole it from the pawn shop, LOL

I'm kiddin :D
