In a way I can understand why she would be a bit insecure.
But not 'hitting the roof' angry.
If your husband works with the groom and you were only a short term partner I don't understand why she would be so mad.
But if someone is insecure they can get like that about exes.

I don't however, think you were wrong to send a gift.
It was just a nice gesture.
