Good for you colonel .................

Too bad you guys had to go to Iraq, since the war was fought for israel. All the israel supporters here should have gone instead .

Met some officers from the tank regiment who were at Knox. They laffed how one legandary member here had called me a "twisted git " which means nothing here but I guess is downright nasty there. Laughing Then they all offerd a toast to moi , 'the twisted git '

My gf's favorite movie is BRIEF ENCOUNTER and we saw the male star Trevor Howard as a soldier in THE THIRD MAN . He made such a good impression do hope your army gave him a pension .

Only a deluded ignoramus would contend that the UK is the second most powerful country militarily in the world.

And the deluded, ignorant Colonel conveniently ignores America's nuclear arsenal and the 11 American nuclear supercarriers (and more on the way) as compared to none by the rest of the world combined.

Admit it, Colonel: you are a circus clown. Laughing

The UK is the second most powerful military power.

The is no other power that has a larger strength. Russia and China are completely outdated, France and Germany have nothing like our strength and equipment either.

You are showing that you are a liar and a bigot.

In fact, my post shows a mistake. The US DOES NOT have 12 carriers, nor 11 as myron suggests. With decomissioning, the US has 10 carriers. 3 of which are VERY old.

Furthermore, the UK government has recently ordered 200 more nuclear warheads. It has been all over the news Rolling Eyes

Face it, you are wrong. You cannot beat me on military matters.

Here is the GlobalFirepower (GFP) ranking of the world's military powers based on the relevant factors analyzed in detail on the website (click the country name in the rankings for detailed analysis): http://www.globalfirepower.com/

1 United States
2 Russia
3 China
4 India
5 Germany
6 France
7 Japan
8 Turkey
9 Brazil
10 Great Britain
11 Italy
12 South Korea
13 Indonesia
14 Mexico
15 Canada
16 Iran
17 Egypt
18 North Korea
19 Spain
20 Pakistan

It is not just in quantity of weapons systems and armaments, but in quality and diversity, that America is by far the most powerful country in the history of the world -- disproportionate to its relative population.

Even before the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the United States has had a bigger military budget than the rest of the world combined.

For example, the U.S. Navy has 10 Nimitz-class nuclear-powered Supercarrier Battle Groups presently deployed throughout the world ( http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/navy/csg.htm ), each of which typically includes the following:

Quote:

a carrier – The carrier provides a wide range of options to the U.S. government from simply showing the flag to attacks on airborne, afloat and ashore targets. Because carriers operate in international waters, its aircraft do not need to secure landing rights on foreign soil. These ships also engage in sustained operations in support of other forces.

two guided missile cruisers – multi-mission surface combatants. Equipped with Tomahawks for long-range strike capability.

a guided missile destroyer – multi-mission suface combatant, used primarily for anti-air warfare (AAW)

a destroyer – primarily for anti-submarine warfare (ASW)

a frigate – primarily for anti-submarine warfare (ASW)

two attack submarines – in a direct support role seeking out and destroying hostile surface ships and submarines

a combined ammunition, oiler, and supply ship – provides logistic support enabling the Navy's forward presence: on station, ready to respond

Link: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/navy/batgru-intro.htm

In addition to the 10 Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarriers presently deployed, there five are more on the way ( http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/cv-list.htm ). The Nimitz-class, the largest warships in the world, are powered by two nuclear reactors, carry 85 aircraft, have a 4.5 acre flight deck and a crew consisting of a ship's company of 3,200 and an air wing of 2,480 ( http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ship/cvn-68.htm ).

The rest of the world combined does not posses a single nuclear-powered supercarrier, and no country has any plans to build one or is even capable of building one. The oldest American nuclear-powered supercarrier is more advanced than anything possessed or planned by any other country. Britain has no supercarrier, nuclear or otherwise.

Britain has no credible long-range strategic bomber capability. America has B-1s, B-2s and B-52s. The B-2, by far the most advanced bomber ever built, costs $2.1 billion per plane ( http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/systems/b-2_gallery.htm ). Russia is the only other country with strategic long-range bombers, albeit antiquated ones compared to the U.S.

In terms of nuclear weapons: the UK is ranked a distant fourth behind the United States, Russia and France, in that order; the UK has zero Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM); and Britain's entire nuclear arsenal consists of American Trident missiles ( http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/summary.htm ).

When the Colonel says that Britain has "ordered" more nuclear warheads, what he means is that Britain has obsequiously asked the United States for permission to buy more American missiles.

In sum, owing to its inability to project credible, overwhelming military power intercontinentally and globally, Britain today is a regional military power.

And the best tank in the world today is the American M1-A1 Abrams. Wink

If you are annoyed with testosterone emissions, I suggest you direct your complaints to the threadstarter.

The Colonel starts thread after thread aimed at demeaning America with bigoted lies.

My replies have nothing to do with testosterone and everything to do with defending my country against an admitted liar and admitted bigot by stating the sourced facts.

I love the Brits, but the Colonel is an asshole extraordinaire and, in my view, an embarrassment to his country.

I note that the US is the most powerful military, how that can be demeaning I don't know...

Nevertheless, the UK is the second most powerful military in the world.

Your source is not credible as it fails to undertake such factors of quality. Russia and China's military may be numerous - but they have next to nothing of any battle worthiness! They consist of little more than scrap metal and a lot of soldiers myron.

I am surprised at your ignorance. As a HMI I do know what I am talking about.

That source compares such things as ports, labour force, total fit for military service etc. That is not how these things are considered myron.

Numbers are important, but that is all that keeps China at No. 3 and Russia at No. 4. Their army's consist of scrap.

The Challenger 1 and 2 are the best tanks in NATO.

Britain makes it's own nuclear warheads myron! I've BEEN there!!! However, we purchase the ICBM from the US since it's easier that way! Otherwise we'd have to start up an industry for it (and we could) but it wouldn't be cost effective, whereas the US makes them every day!

Your ignorance on this is surprising.

You are the one who is showing bigotry towards the UK myron, not the other way around.

Your supercarrier argument is correct...however Kitty Hawk, Enterprise, Carl Vinson and Dwight. D. Eisenhower are almost ready for decomission. (Kitty Hawk has a matter of weeks left). I acknowledge there are SOME replacements planned but these are not enough to cover the amount the carrier fleet has decreased already.

Nevertheless, the UK is developing three - very large - stealth carriers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_class_aircraft_carrier

See above for a guide, though I have to say a fair bit of that information is inaccurate to what I know. For example, it mentions peace time aircraft rather than full capacity, and mentions only two of the three that have been ordered.
