What to expect in jail?

I will be going to jail for 10 days, I am 45 year old female and do not know what to expect.
What should I wear when I surrender?
What can I take with me?
Will I be allowed to wear my own shoes and clothes?
Will I be strip searched?
Any advice will be appreciated.

When you surrender expect to be fingerprinted, pictures taken for mug shots and searched. You will also be asked medical questions. You will be issued a jail uniform.
After that you will be assigned to your cell. Expect it to be small and you will probably have cellmates.
Everything you do will be controlled by the guards. It will be very humiliating and miserable, but it will only be 10 days.
