Tragedy - Co-sleeping

Postby Tessa2 on Fri May 13, 2005 2:50 pm

I am SO ANGRY TODAY. What the hell is this world coming to??

There is a young girl in my street with a 3 month old baby and a 3 year old toddler. She (in my opinion) is a very unfit mother. She is drunk by lunch time, and her toddler often escapes via the unlocked front door and is taken home by a neighbour. Last month this little girl was found face-down in nearby pond. Thank god the lady whose pond it was managed to pull her out in time and she was fine.

Yesterday there were police swarming around our street. The woman had gone to bed drunk as usual the night before, and her 3 month old baby was in her bed with her. She was awakened at 9.30 yesterday morning by a friend (one who drinks all day with her) banging on her door. She had slept in due to being so intoxicated - and she had also accidently smothered the baby during the night. An absoulute tragedy, and everyone around here is devestated. She infuriating thing is that Social Services have had SO MANY warnings about this woman - . and otherwise - yet nothing was done. Last week this same little baby was dangled from the first floor window by her father during an argument at 3am. JUST LAST WEEK!!!!!!!! If this little tot had been taken to a secure and safe home right then,by social services, she'd still be alive today.

I feel so guilty and desperately sad.

Do you think this woman will be prosecuted for this? I doubt it.

Merci

oh geez.... thats terrible... i dont think she will be prosecuted because it was an accident, even though it was her own fault for being drunk.. oh thats awful, some people dont deserve to be parents if theyre gonna be like that. lets just hope the toddler is ok..

Iam sorry to hear that, its so tragic. But dont feel guilty, you did all you could by getting social services involved, they are the ones who should be to blame. Sometimes they dont get involved until it is too late. Something should be done about this. The other girl should be given to foster parents or other relatives who are capable of looking after her! Its awful

I cant begin to think what you must be feelinf just to have known that little kid, seeing her everyday in the street. The mother should be jailed.
