Iam thinking of taking driving lessons, but dont think Id be able to afford them. I live by myself so the money is a bit tight! How many driving lessons do you need before you can do the test? I have never drivin in my life, so I reckon Id need loads of lessons. LOL

Helps if you got mates that can drive, that way you can rope them into free driveing lessons round empty car parks!
You need one a week at least! But drive with your mates every single chance you get!The difference in someone who does this and just has lessons is very noticible! And even more noticible to your bank balence, lessons are pricey!!!!!!!!!!

Theoretically, you can do the test without proper lessons. A friend of mine knew someone who did that; his first lesson with a driving instructor was for his test, and he passed! Shocked But that was before the theory test was introduced!

However, its quite hard to suggest how many lessons you would need before the test. It depends on quickly you can learn, and how good the instructor is. My mom had quite a few lessons before she passed her test, and I had 10 hours before I passed mine. Mainly because I began driving at a relatively early age (14, and it was on private land so I wasnt driving illegally) so by the time I was 17, I knew the basics of car handling like it was second nature. I just had to learn how to drive on the road.

As "Guest" suggested, ask a mate to teach you privately in an emtpy car park. It helps alot, especially in terms of money!

typically most people have between 10 and 25 lessons; depending on the instructor and how quickly they learn

Oh god! It took me a yr and a half of lessons (all with an instructor as nobody would offer to take me in their own car!) and then four attempts at passing my test..... Embarassed
