When I write an email address in the address bar a drop down list appears showing everything that has been previously looked at. Is there anyway you can stop this so that nothing appears?

If you clear your browsers history, sorry I use a mac and a non standard browser so caon't be too specific, it'll temporarly stop it from being too big. Also change your browser history settings to only be for one day that way a large list won't build up. Hope that is of help.

clearing out history won't stop that, type the first word and go all the way down the list, then delete them one by one. As this setting comes up ONCE only initially, it's hard to change. type a and clear the list, b, etc. Tedious, I know, but trust me it works.

If you're using a version of Windows, then you can get a program called "TweakUI" or "Power Toys for Windows" which is the newer XP version (, but not as good as seems to change the log-in settings)
In the versions for Win95 and Win2000m there is a "Paranoia" setting that as a bunch of settings like: "clear internet search history" upon exit. Even if you're not paranoid, this will clear out some unwanted junk, and help your computer run more smoothly. -That's why I use it.
