| Im now using AVG free anti-virus - I used to use Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Personal Firewall - does anyone know if AVG is all I need to protect my PC or should I back it up with other AV software? |

| As has been said AVG is fine, just make sure you update it regularly! An AV that's not updated is the same as not having one at all! |

| you need a firewall - that's as or more important than a virus scanner. does AVG have a firewall bundled in? if not, you can use Kerio Personal Firewall. It's free to download and very good. |

I dont know if AVG has a firewall - actually thats what I wanted to ask so thanks for pre-empting me, Irish. I'll look and see and if not I'll download Kerio - if, as Alan P says its still supporting the free version. Thanks all. |

| I prefer Panda and Kaspersky, but AVG beats Norton and McAfee POS's. Zone Alarm is my preference for a firewall. Plus Spybot Search and Destroy. And Firefox, of course. |

Sygate stopped with free version.. Kerio you can still run after evaluation is over with a few less options..
Like others said, having just anti-virus doesn't do it these days, firewall is also the 'must have' software. |

Windows XP comes with one, for those that have Winxp. Enabled by default. I hated it at first. |
