No they probably wouldn't, they're to make your connection between you and the ISP remain in use, but have no effect on connections through your service provider to the outside world.

Realistically the only things to do are have a go at your provider which will get you nowhere because the helldesk staff won't understand that the problem lies in their network not in your messaging app (unless you have a degree in data comms and can work the fine tool that is netmon) or switch to another provider..

I must admit the connection for Yahoo, and particularly Windows Messenger, have improved a lot in the past couple of months. It's rare for me to have any problems, and it seems to be rare that anyone I chat to has problems either, which is good. Smile
Perhaps, going by what you said, it actually means ISPs have got better and all the hardware upgrades, including the fibre optic cabling we've got in most places here, must help a lot too.
