Hi all

My fiance and I are South African (Cape Town) and have decided to start planning our wedding and have decided to get married in Thailand. We have been there twice before (1997 to Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai and Bangkok, and in 2003 to Phuket at the Amari Coral Beach) and both feel that it holds a special place in our hearts. The people are beautiful, the country is beautiful and are so welcoming to tourists.

We want to get out of having the big wedding that costs a fortune, of inviting people we haven't seen for ages and just getting away from the whole traditional 'Western' wedding format.

I believe you can get married virtually any where in Thailand, and we were thinking of possibly on a beautiful beach somewhere - we don't mind going back to Phuket (the shopping is brilliant!) but perhaps somewhere different? Any suggestions???

Being a complete animal lover, I like the idea of having the white tiger or even a baby elephant? I would appreciate any assistance or advice I can get as we are looking at June 2005 and I would like to start planning asap.

Hi Fiona

Sorry can not ofer any suggestions, however I also have booked my weddng in Thailand and have booked the Laguna Beach Resort although I now feel that it is possibly to far out of patong I have the option of changing to the amari coral beach and was just wondering if during your stay there you witnessed any weddings happening and if not based on your own stay do you feel that this would be an ideal place to get married .

Many Thanks in Advance

Hi Deborah,

I'm planning my wedding for april 2006 & wanted to get married in Phuket. The Laguna Beach sounded ideal. I want something small and definately not tacky. Where did you get married? Any suggestions?

Hi Claire and pete, your pictures are beautiful, you looked lovely. Just a couple of questions, which hotel did you get married at, and did the hotel have a salon to have your hair and makeup done? Thanks

For anyone that is interested in Wedding Package information, I have just recieved this info from the hotel that we had ours at, and whats more crazy is that the couple getting married are my husbands sister,
and even more crazy is the beach scene is actually all four of us on our

Hi. Thanks for the comments.

We got married at the Santiburi, but we were staying at its sister Hotel, the Bo Phut Resort. We let someone else organise the wedding details. 2 Thai ladies visited our Hotel and did my hair, and a Finnish lady did my makeup. In retrospect, I think if we'd just asked at the Hotel reception, they would have been able to provide these services.

I think the Santiburi would probably have been able to provide those services in-house.

Hi, thanks for info. We are having blessing at central samui beach resort and I believe they have a salon at the hotel so hopefully they can help. I hope our pictures look as great as yours.

We are going to Thailand for 10days and would like to get married. How long is the paperwork process and do you need to stay in Bangkok while its being done or can you just leave it with them and start your holiday? We just don't want to waste anytime hanging in Bangkok we'd rather visit the islands etc.
