I'm sure there must be some in the UK, they can't all be men. Does anyone know a female Mechanic and able to post their contact details on here or offline to me? I want to put together a list of them for all to share.

Out of interest why would you be interested in a female mechanic? I was considering going into the profession myself.

i am sure this has been covered elsewhere.. surely you should be choosing the best skilled/value mechanic, regardless of gender?

Looks like they are.
Looked at your web site and there's no a section for mechanics. Car repairs and garage services have no entries though.
I still cannot understand why anyone would choose a femail mechanic simply because of her gender. Go for the one that meets your needs the best regardless.

Im actually thinking about going to school to become a mechanic...and I am female! I think its just interesting! I know I cant speak for all females, but A LOT (and I think lots of other females will agree with me) of females dont want to get oil and grease on them. Me, I could care less! Also, the MAJORITY of all car inthusiasts are guys for some reason! I think more females need to be into cars! Id LOVE to meet other females interested in learning about cars with me! Also, If any guys have the patience to teach or give tips to a female whos extremely interested and very willing to learn, it would be nice to chat!

I wouldn't let a woman touch my car. God forbid she's PMS'ing, and takes to hating on men for it, and my car gets ruined. No, I'll deal with a man, someone who is competent.

VSO is a development agency that sends professionals to share their skills with colleagues in some of the poorest countries in the world.

Full training is provided for all volunteers, as well as a comprehensive package of benefits including flights, insurance, accommodation, living allowance and grants. The majority of placements are for a two-year period but some one-year placements are available.

We’ re looking for a lady mechanic to work in project teaching car mechanic techniques specifically to group of the poor and vulnerable women in the community. You’ll promote the work area of mechanics to women and women’s’ groups and lead classes and practical workshops to teach your students all aspects of auto mechanics.

Interested? Call me on 0208 780 7468 for more info.

Hi
My name is michelle and yes there are female mechanics out there. I qualified as a mechanic 15 years ago and in them days it wasn't easy(I hope it's better now). I spent 3 years on day release at collage to get my city & guilds level 1,2 and 3(city & guilds 383). I did this by getting myself working in a garage then went onto what was then YTS, they paid for my training.
I no longer work in a garage as I left to work on hydraulic platforms (cerry pickers). I have worked here now for 10 years. I started here (Versalift UK) building the platforms and now I am in the engineering office telling the fitters on the shop floor what they need to build to the customer specification.
I have also got a full forklift, crain and IPAF liecence.

So lady's you can do a man's job, I proved it.

I know of one other qualified female who was in the year above me at collage and worked in the garage down the road from where I worked.
Us lady's in Northamptonshire are not affraid of getting our hands dirty.

If anyone is looking to do this as a career and wants to ask me a question or wants advice I will be happy to help if I can.
Reply here or e-mail me. My email address is on fox7139@yahoo.co.uk
