I know this guy who is a curator at one of my university's museums ... and I really like him. The thing is he's been flirting quite outrageously with me too (I think) altho I'm not sure if he's single or if it's just me he's flirting with. I don't know how to find out if he likes me without letting on too much ... in case he doesn't like me and laughs at me. Or even worse spreads around the uni what a dafty I am !
Help !!!!!!!! |

Well, personally I don’t think he will laugh at you, but you really need try to find out what he is really up to: if some serious relationship or casual sex and, if the latter, whether you would agree with that. If you want to know if he is already committed to someone else, try to invite him to some parties in weekends nights or weekdays after-hours… if any excuse comes up, then you have got some red flags…
Good Luck! |

| I guess you can just flirt back and see if he'll make a move. Nothing wrong with just flirting. If he doesn't make a move then you know he's not interrested. |

If he's been flirting (or seemingly so), how about just coming out next time and saying "Is it my imagination or are you flirting with me?" Say it in an intriguing way and as if you are joking a little (but certainly don't be too aggressive) - go for the dominant approach.
Worst case scenario is he can say no...and you can just reply with something like "thats ok then, I'll forgive you" and smile.
It's direct.....

It's really strange but I have found a really great way of finding out things about people. Don't let on too much though.
I ask them.
Just say, calmly and in a neutral tone "Are you single?" Chances are he'll tell you - it's hard not to. If he doesn't (like saying "why?") then just tell him "it doesn't matter," drop the subject and refuse to be drawn on it.
I like catweasel's approach, too. Directness is called for at times and does no harm. |

I vote direct also.
But suppose you could ask others.....say for example you know other people that know him, you can ask those other people, "Is it me, or is that guy a huge flirt?" ..............depending how it goes........"He's kind of cute, don't u think?".........."You know if he is single?"........ Asking questions...uhm.....well......usually brings some answers.
Good Luck |
