Well hopefully people still will answer on this site considering some of these posts date back to 2005...
Anyway, I am 13 and planning on getting my belly pierced tomorrow. However, I'm still pretty hesitant on doing so because I'm not so sure if I'm done growing. I'm pretty sure I've only got about 2 inches max left. Migrating and scarring are possibilities of growing, but I was wondering if 2 inches would affect a piercing at all. I'm pretty petite and skinny, and 5'1 (if that even matters).

Also, could people stop asking whether it hurts? It's only been asked about 10+ times in this forum, you could at least read what people say. People aren't going to answer any differently if you ask a million times.. The pain differs between every individual, their pain tolerances, and how much fat/skin the needle has to go through. If you have scar tissue, that will hurt more opposed to someone whose stomach has no scar tissue.

As for the first post, (if age matters) my opinion is to an extent it does matter. I think anyone younger then 13 is a little too young for a belly button piercing, partly because many girls under that age aren't mature enough. ie: I know some that would go around a school to show people, just to feel superior, or wear revealing clothes for a period of time to show it off.

If anyone could answer ASAP it'd be appreciated. :)

I got mine done yesterday after much research, so I'm quite sure on most facts.
First of all, the pain is minimum. And I'm not just saying that, it was comparable to your ear lobes, just a different sensation. However, if you have pierced it before and took it out, it will hurt a little more. (scar tissue is tougher) Remember to breathe, it will hurt less. Most people forget to breathe when the needle goes through. ( don't breathe too quickly, just normal breaths. you don't want to move that much when s/he pierces you)
Secondly, the procedure goes like this. You go in, and if your under their age restriction you need parental consent. You'll should sign a waiver to protect the shop and yourself. You pick your jewelery and pay. For me, mine was very pricey. Compared to people who've said $30-$80, mine was $120. $35 for the piercing, and my jewelery was $95. (however there were cheaper barbells, I chose the double jewelled one. I actually wanted the single jewelled one that was $10 less, but she obviously thought I meant the other one) The piercer will then set up everything with the sterilized tools which should be sterilized with an autoclave, and NOTHING else. Its the only thing that is for sure to kill diseases such as hepatitis. After the piercer wipes your stomach with a disinfectant, she will mark the spot where she will pierce. You will then lie down on a dentist/doctor like chair where the piercer will clamp your stomach. They will then stick a approximately 2 inch hollow needle into you. Then they will insert the jewelery, and your done. Make sure you eat before you get this done, it will prevent you from fainting or being dizzy.
Thirdly, my piercer said that you will need to grow a significant amount in order for a piercing to be stretch and all gross looking. Notice the bold on significant. If you have more then 4 inches left in you to grow, I suggest you wait it out, unless you like to have scars and/or a stretched hole. It may also migrate or all together reject.
Fourthly, if you need to ask other people for tips on how to persuade your parents to let you get it pierced, you obviously don't want a belly ring too much, or you would have your OWN reasons for having this done.
Fifthly, I don't think age matters unless you are older then 13 in my opinion. I don't think that 13 year olds are uneducated or unable to properly care for their piercings because I am 13, and look at what i know. I made sure I thoroughly researched this before getting mine done.
If you guys REALLLLLY need this done, I say go for it, but be 100% sure. I dont think I was 100% sure, because now I dont even really care. It's not a big deal at all. Anymore questions, feel free to e-mail xojuicycoutureox@hotmail.com

Well first off, when did your mom get hers done? You could use that as an argument. If your dad doesn't want you to get it done, don't do it yet. Ask him when the appropriate age he would allow it because you do want one and nothing will really change what you want. You can't hide it from your parents, they WILL know sooner or later and you'll face the consequence. Plus, if he "ripps" it out, you'll be left with a hgue ugly scar, and a bare button is better then a scarred one. No one is really too skinny to get one done, unless the piercer is concerened aboit migration. The less skin there is to hold the piercing, the more likely your piercing will migrate out. Considering both your parents and the piercer think maybe you should get it later, then get it later.

Well, this is what my mo told my dad.... It's better than getting any other place on your body pierced,...you can cover it up, and won't hurt your chances of getting a job somewhere(some places dont like piercings- you have to cover them up). 8) Good luck.

im 13 years old and wantED to get my bellybutton pierced my reasons were that i thought it was cool and i could show it off when i wore my bikinies. i'd be the only one in year seven to have got it plus my sister has one. With my sisters she said it didn't hurt...well it did but not that much. She also has 3 tattos, a nose ring, a toung ring, two sets of ear piercings. NOthingas gone wrong with hers.... maybe her ear got infected once but it wasn't serious. So all this time i didn't really know what could happen. thats why im here... i've been reading what people have said bout scars and infections and realized my reasons weren't really good compared to what can happen. i just started to think; i don't NEED a belly button ring. you have to clean every single day...for what? Sure it looks good. but thats all it is,looking good.i don't even have clear reasons for it...but thats just me...if you have clear reasons maybe even more than just looking good then go ahead and get it done...but before you do...read more about and have a serious think.... is it worth it? If you want, contact me on: lil_devil_chick05@hotmail.com
one more thing this is going off the subject a bit) but if you are thinking of getting your ear pierced... theres a certain place on both ears were theres this ...umm...cell... and if you get the piercing in that spot half your face will go numb... if you get it on both sides then your whole face will go numb. if it is ure first hole dw coz this cell is in the top of ure ears... so ask a doctor if ure getting one anywhere near the top of your ear...just a caution...cyaz...
