Can anyone recommend spyware/antivirus software??

Haven't had any problems with it and it's fairly simple to set up. Luckily I get it for free but I do know there are some decent free antivirus programs out there though I haven't used any so couldn't recommend one.

I used to use Norton Anti-Virus products but they can be a real pain in the butt to put right if they fail during installation or an update, so I steer clear of Norton stuff now.

I tried them all... The Best AVS I found is "Nod32"... It's like those genius software writers came from a better planet...

Best Spyware software is "Spybot Search & Destroy".. not to be confused with spywarebot, which is Not Spybot...

Best firewall is "_ Armor".. but it wouldn't work on my old PC, with only 128-RAM.. This antique PC doesn't have enough RAM to run OLA without slowing down the PC a Lot...
Me thinks to run that amazing firewall properly, the PC needs at least a gig of RAM...
Use caution in uninstalling OLA.. the uninstall left this PC's OS so damaged that I had to format-C... It probably took out critical parts of the system with the uninstall...

*Always do a fresh Clean registry-backup right before installing new software...

You get Nod32, Spybot, and OLA, by searching them on the Net...

Be sure to make a fresh registry backup before you install...

Be sure to do all the updates till you don't get anymore...

Be sure to run each scanner after you've updated all three...

Install OLA only if your PC has a lot of RAM... How much RAM does your PC have?..

With just 500-megs of Ram you might notice a bit of a slowdown...

Ask the writers of On-Line Armor if 500-megs is sufficient, before you install the thing...

I use eTrust Internet Security Suite. It's made by Computer Associates and is used by many big companies to secure their networks and internet access. It's brilliant. The only downfall is I can't seem to find a way to get it to tell me there is an update. I does all updates automatically, but often does them in the background which slows things down at times which makes me panic into thinking I've got spyware running. Upon rebooting the PC, it then tells me it's doing an update, but I can't pause it. It's pretty quick with the updates though and it's very secure.

Security Suite is SUPER.. but it doesn't work on the older PC's with just a little RAM... You need a new PC to run that lovely software...
