Listening to these comments it's about time Claire's realised the potential market out there and did something to promote a positive image of boys, and men, with both ears pierced.

Pierced ears for men would then become more acceptable, and who knows even the norm!!

There must be a lot of boys/men who would like their ears pierced but are put off because of outdated macho views, I'm sure most of you Mums, Aunties, wives, girlfriends, sisters and daughters out there won't mind sharing the pleasure of wearing earings with your male relatives.

Come on girls support your men to express their feminine side.

Hello, i have a question, if i get my ears pierced, do i have to get a gold stud first, or is there any way to get 2 small gold hoops from the beginning. I am personally not a fan of the gold studs and was hoping i could get the 2 hoops right away. Any comments please? Thanks for reading my post.

Dear Guest,
Maybe you should just go down to Claires have your ears pierced. When your wife sees you with studs in she may well like the look, after all I think my husband looks great with his studs in. If she does not like them you can always take them out and let your ears heal.
Be brave, go down to Claires this weekend and get some nice stud puts in I am sure your wife will like them once she sees how nice they look.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

As far as i know if you have your ears pierced with a gun you have have to have some kind of stud put in. There are lots of different styles of piercing studs available now not just plain gold ball studs. I think it is also possible to have your ears pierced with needle by a body piercer then i think they can put hoops in straight away. Personnally i thinks studs look better and having them pierced with a gun is really easy but it is your decision. Whatever you decide good luck

I changed my husbands earrings today the golden balls came out and the diamonds came in flashing. It wasnt the usual feel my husband said he felt more confident. It was very easy to take the earrings out because of my long nails.

I think that is an interesting point that Daddy makes. I think it is very off putting for a lot boys and men wanting their ears pierced because most of the places that do ear piercing are very girly shops especially claires. Maybe it is time time Claires had a male section where boys and men would not feel quite so self conscious about having their ears pierced. I think it is time these shops realised how popular it is for males to wear earrings. Maybe its just a matter of time before males wearing earrings is as popular as males wearing a chain round their or a ring on their finger. In the meantime its upto us females to encourage our boys/men to ignore the girly surroundings of Claires and just get them pierced, after all it only takes a few minutes to have them pierced, surely we can persuade our men to sit in the girly surrounding a few minutes while the the studs are put in.

Hi - thanks for the advice so far. I didn't summon up the courage this weekend, but hope to persuade my wife soon (given that Bruce Springsteen is her favourite artist and he wears earrings).
Are you lot from the UK? (I still don't think earrings are as acceptable here as they are in the US)

Thanks a lot!

Hi Guest,
I am also in the UK, sorry to see that you have not got your earrings yet.
Sounds like your wife is starting to come round to the idea of you wearing earrings. We live in Yorkshire, it is not so common to see men or boys with an earring in each ear however, a single earring is very popular. My husband has had his left ear pierced since his college days it is only recently that he has had his right one done. He hadn't worn an earring in his left ear for about ten years up until he had his right one pierced recently. It was quite difficult getting an earring back in his left ear after all that time but i managed to put in a piercing stud that my daughter had when she had hers pierced the first time which matched the stud in his right ear, now he has both pierced he wears earrings all the time. He wears piercing studs during the week and through the night and wears a pair of celtic design studs which i bought at the weekend. Wearing the piercing studs during the week keeps his holes nice and free. If he just wears the celtic studs the holes start to close because of the smaller diameter stem, so bare this in mind when you finally get yours done.
Once again good luck, maybe you go for it this weekend.

What type of earring does your son wear? Is he allowed to wear it to school? Did it hurt getting his ear pierced? What do the teachers say?
I am deciding whether or not to get my sons ears pierced as it is more fashionable now.

Yes, it's really fashionable, isn't it?

Why not take your son to do it, Camilla?

Today after school I picked up my 14 year old son and took him to Claire's
to get his ears pierced. I asked for two piercings one in each ear and for diamond studs. I waited and after five minutes he came up to me and hugged me, thank you mum for making such a good decision. His diamonds were really nice and very shiny. Thank You for the advice.

Oh you did it, Camilla!

I'm sure he's really thrilled. I'm sure you really deserved the big hug he gave you! His hug there must have been a lovely moment for you!

I've just been in a net cafe and boys about your son's age came in and they had diamond studs in their earlobes as well. (Their moms must have got big hugs as well for letting them!)

I am a single parent of twins and I myself hav both of my ears pierced. When my daughter had her ears pierced at the age of 7 my son asked me why she had hers done and I had mine but he didn't so I let him get both of his ears pierced. Then when my daughter got her 2nd holes done in each ear when she was 10, my son wanted 2nd holes as well so he got his dun. They are now both 16 and my daughter has 6 in 1 ear and 5 in the other, her nose pierced and belly button pierced and my son still has 2 in each ear.

Both Studex and Inverness brand earpiercing systems offer hoop-style piercing earrings. Go to a store using one of these two systems and they can pierce your ears with post-style hoops as the starter earrings. Most CLAIRES (at least around my home) use the STUDEX system, some use Inverness. Piercing Pagoda uses Inverness.

Me and my husband were at the hairdressers on Saturday having our hair done. I was finished before my husband as he was having highlights put in his hair, so I was sat watching a boy about 10 years old having his ears pierced with his mother holding his hand as the ears were pierced one at a time. Once he was done he turned to his mother and thanked her for the best bithday present ever. I thought what a lovely birthday present, he looked really good with a gold ball stud in each ear. I went over to Brian my husband (looking fab with his rubber highlighting cap on sat under the dryer Ha Ha!!!) and asked whether he had ever thought about wearing earrings. I suggested that a pair of gold studs would look really good with his highlighted hair. Unfortunately we did not have time for him to have them pierced on Saturday at the hairdressers. On Sunday we went shopping with our son (age Cool at a local shopping centre, as we walked around I noticed a Claires Accessory shop with a notice up advertising ear piercing. As I looked across I noticed a little girl sat on a chair in the window with her mother choosing some piercing studs. I said to Brian shall we go in and get your ears pierced, James our son overheard what I said and asked whether he could have his ears pierced. I explained to James that it might hurt a bit and that his ears would have to be taken care of very carefully. We went in, the ladies doing the piercing were busy taking care of the little girl, James was fascinated watching the girl have her ears pierced. Unfortunately the girl cryed as the studs went in but she soon got over it. Now it was our turn, i asked James whether he wanted to go before Daddy or after, he wanted Dad to go first which he did, Brian went for White Gold ball studs which look fantastic with his highlighted hair. Now James sat on the chair looking a bit afraid as his ears were marked up ready for piercing. Less than a minute later James was sat there with the same ball studs as his Dad just in yellow gold. I could see tears welling in his eyes but once he was shown his ears in the mirror a smile came over his face and everthing was OK. Both Brian's and James's ear lobes looked a little red for a hour or so afterwards but now both are fine. I do the cleaning and rotating for Brian and James twice a day. I am so proud of both of them especially James
PS Claires is a great place to have your ears pierced whether you are male or female, they are so friendly, very gentle and explain everything at every stage. Well done Claires!!!
