How do you find an avatar?
Every time I go insearch of a new one it takes me hours to fillter through the ones I don't like! Any of the ones I do like end up being too big. (65x65 pixels/7k)
I don't want to be signing up for every site I just want a cool avatar that's me.
It's driving me insane!
Any tips or links?

Download the free program on here, you will see it on the left near the top.
It will change the size of any picture |

Once you get a picture to no bigger than 120x120 pixels then you'll need to make sure it's no larger than 16kb: Right click on the saved photo file and choose "properties". In there it says how many kilobytes it is. I've found a 120x120 pixel photo needs to have a colour depth of no more than 64kb.
If the 120x120 avatar is larger than 16kb on the disk (as shown in "properties"), then just load it up in a paint or photo program and use that to reduce the colour depth to 24bit.
I use Paint Shop Pro. It's under: Colours/Decrease Colour Depth/64K colours (24bit)
Presumably any photo which is half that in size, or smaller, should be no larger than 16kb anyway.
ie. 60x60 pixels photo, or variants such as 70x50 or 80x40, should all be 16kb or smaller to start with. |
