A Friend of mine has just bought a Ferrari Dino 246 GT 1972, but it is running rich, what is the best petrol to run it on?

That age of car requires the highest octane you can find, with the highest lead content you can find, (unless the valves, valve guides & valve seats have been replaced to take unleaded) If it's runnibg THAT rich he's having trouble getting it through a "standard" emmissions test for the MOT, one of the carb's may have a split diaphram. A new air filter & overhaul of ALL the carbs will cure this.

Because Ferrari's have such highly tuned engines, they require A LOT of maintanence. They are a lovely old smoke, but too much hassle for every day use.

Ok - my 106 (peugeot) feels sloppy when driving - its done 98k miles and I've recently had the strut mounts changed. Will changing the ball joints and bushings return this to new? how hard is this to do? I'm handy with a spanner but don't have many specialist tools. is it a job for a garage?

If some one else changed the strut mounts for you, then it's a garage job.

Personally at 98K on a 106... I wouldn't bother. No offence, but they drove like a boat when they were new.

sorry - should have mentioned it was the gti version - probly one of the best handling cars ever!

garage done them as I was at uni and didn't have any tools. I would have done it else.

Oh.. Ok, then yes, changing the bushes & ball joints will stiffen it up, so to speak.
I think you'll find that when ordering the replacement ball joints you might find they come already attached to a new lower arm (complete with bushes)

Do you know how to set up the wheel bearing properly after you've fitted everything?

wasn't aware there was a way to setup front wheel bearinsg on a 106? as far as i remember they're rollor bearings front and rear which once tightened to the correct torque require no futher work?

Don't do it!
You will make much more money in one of the building trades. Mechanics are paid a pittence & always will be.

Be a plumber or an electrician, self employed £200+++ a day EASY!

I have a question. I recently paid 9995 for a car from a dealer, that after three months off owning decided it really wasn't the car for me. I tried to swap it for another car, and found out i was overcharged by 5395 from what the car was worth. I now can't afford to get rid of it as i would be in negative equity, any advice anyone??? Being a woman who knows nothing about cars. Help!!!
