You only need to watch final destination 2 to know airbags are dangerous!

I suspect that Exodus is American hence a slightly different perspective. Personally I agree with the OP, if you don't want to wear a seat belt and you are in the front seat that should be your own choice. However I think that wearing seat belts in the back should be rigidly enforced because in the event of a bad accident there is a good chance that you're going to kill the person in front of you along with yourself.

Not wearing a seatbelt is just plain stupid. If you decide not to wear a seatbelt you are just plain stupid too. Simple as that.

So you think there should be a law against stupidity now?

I didn't say that I don't wear a seatbelt, I'm not stupid, but when you're in the front seat of a car the only person you can hurt by not wearing one is yourself.

Well, you are right about me being American. It is a different perspective seeing that America has a LOT of safety testing and procedures on their cars before they can be legally sold. You can't buy a car anymore without airbags. I want to say since 1996 they became federally required in all cars sold in this country. Also, cars have to pass crash testing and stability tests here as well. Perhaps in the UK or what not, cars aren't put through such a strict crash-testing lab hence have lower requirements.

Exodus, I think crash testing on this side of the pond is just as thorough if not more so. The different perpective thing is the fact that on your side of the pond a lot less people habitually wore seatbelts and airbags were developed originally as a substitute for seat belts. On our side of the pond airbags were introduced a lot later and were intended always as a supplementary restraint system (SRS) to the seat belt that is already being worn.

Or another person if you go hurtling through the windshield into a pedestrian, a person on a bike etc. Think of others. Also, you will hurt your family by either being serioulsy hurt or even dead.

Oh come on, if your body is going to hit a pedestrian by flying through the windscreen, the car itself is going to make a pretty good job of hitting the same pedestrian.

All I'm saying is that there are far too many laws, we shouldn't have laws against things that don't affect anyone other than the person doing it. Alright there are families to consider, but surely that's down to the individual's conscience NOT the government?

The car could stop in front of the pedestrian and you could strike them. It's possible. I think most people's family would want them to wear a seatbelt.

Sorry but it's impossible to go through a modern winscreen.
Laminated screens became standard fitment about 20 years ago and will stop a body going through them.

this is going no where because certain dumb folk actually think that an airbag which is likely to choke you to death is safer than wearing a seatbelt which actually save lifes and airbag in the fron passenger seat shore as hell aint gotta stop someone from flying through that wind shield and it wont stop the driver from damaging their chest area you know what to end this stupidness lets say get a car with aorbags and wear and seatbelt then we can all be wright and alive this is a stupid discussion that should end now

What the hell do you think an airbag is...? "Choke you to death"...? Uhhhh... Airbags deploy and are deflated in less then 2 seconds. It is not possible to choke on an airbag, unless the airbag somehow deploys small enough to enter your mouth and inflate in there . . . Rolling Eyes Also, after airbags deflate, they stay connected to the steering wheel none-to-less. The only bad effects of airbags is that some people recieve very MINOR burns from the powder that modern systems create when they detonate.

Yes, and airbag WILL stop someone from going through a windshield. I'd like to see someone have enough momentum to fly out of their seat, directly through a pressurized restraint system (the airbag), and blast through the winsheild. Unless you are going 100+, I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon. Besides, if you go 100+, then you deserve what will happen cause you shouldn't be going that fast to begin with.

I think he means if the car doesn't have an airbag when referring to flying through windshields.
