I think alot of people (me included) had pregnancy like symptoms coming off Cerazette. Although the doctors say that once you stop taking it, it's out of your system, I have the feeling that because it "tricks" your body into thinking it's pregnant with the fake progesterone, your natural hormones in your body get out of whack taking it and once you come off it, it might be out of your system, but your body needs awhile to adjust its hormone balance!
I had taken it for 4 years, came off in August 2006 (after not having my period for 4 years) got my first period 4 weeks later and then fell pregnant that cycle but lost the baby at almost 6 weeks. Now I've just gotten pregnant again and am using a natural progesterone cream to hopefully make up for any low progesterone effects that might still be there as a result of taking Cerazette. I'm approaching the 6 week mark again and am trying to stay positive that the baby will stick this time!! (BTW I'm 41)
Best of luck to you! |

Hi
Saw the reply Chloe sent you about looking in the health section for info on cerazette. I'm probably being really dim but i've searched and searched and can't see any info about cerazette.
Could you point me in the right direction please?
Thanks! Em |

Hi kaz30, I think you might mean me. I was on cerazette for 4 years and loved being on it. I came off at the end of August 2006, got my period 4 weeks later then got pregnant that next cycle but miscarried at just under 6 weeks. I went 4 cycles after the miscarriage before I got pregnant again and am now almost 19 weeks and everything is looking good with the pregnancy. I have been using natural progesterone cream though ever since I got the positive at 10 DPO as a saliva test had shown that my progesterone levels were low. I have no proof, but I think the low progesterone levels might be because of being on Cerazette so long, as it gives our bodies a "fake" progesterone to stop ovulation which causes our bodies to stop producing its own natural progesterone. I strongly feel that that might have been the reason for my first miscarriage so soon after coming off the pill. BUT I am also over 40 so it might have been because of that too?!
Best wishes to you! |

STARTED TAKING CERAZETTE A MONTH AND A HALF AGO ALL WAS FINE FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS THEN I STARTED MY PERIOD RIGHT ON TIME AND THATS WHERE THE PROBLEM STARTED BECAUSE 4 WEEKS LATER I AM STILL ON. THE FIRST WEEK BLEEDING WAS NEXT TO NOTHING AND I THOUGHT GREAT I CAN COPE WITH THIS AS MY PERIODS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HEAVY. THEN THE NEXT WEEK I CARRIED ON BLEEDING AND IT BECAME HEAVIER. AFTER THAT WEEK THINGS SLOWED DOWN ABIT BUT THEN THEY BECAME A BIT HIT AND MISS ONE DAY ON ANOTHER OFF I FEEL LIKE A YOYO.
TODAY I WENT BACK TO THE FAMILY PLANNING AND WAS TOLD TO TRY AND CARRY ON WITH IT FOR THE 3 MONTHS (MONTH AND A HALF LEFT TO GO) AND SEE HOW I FEEL THEN. THE LADY WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING AND SAID IF I COULD'NT CARRY ON TILL THEN TO GO BACK SOONER. SHE THINKS THE EXTRA BLEEDING COULD BE DUE TO MY PERIODS ALWAYS BEING VERY HEAVY AND IT USUALLLY TAKES ABIT LONGER TO SORT THINGS OUT. TILL THEN I WILL CARRY ON REGUARDLESS. |

| I've been taking it 3 months now and visited the doctor yesterday because I've had no blood whatsoever, me and my partner also use condoms to be extra safe, now my doctor wants me to do a pregnancy test, even though we both think I'm negative, I'm soooooo worried! |

| It's fairly common not to have a period while on Cerazette... why would your doctor think you're pregnant if you've been taking it correctly?? I was on Cerazette for 4 years and only had occasional spotting during that time, my doctor had warned me from the beginning that most women taking Cerazette don't have periods while taking it. That was one of the big pluses for me during that time!! |

| UP DATE FROM LAST POST. I STOPPED BLEEDING FOR 3 DAYS BUT THEN I STARTED MY NEXT PERIOD BANG ON TIME. THAT WAS JUST OVER A WEEK AGO AND IM SPOTTING EVERY NOW AND THEN. ITS STILL DRIVING ME MAD. ALL I WANT FROM THIS PILL IS TWO THINGS 1 IS TO STOP ME GETTING PREGNANT AND 2 TO STOP MY PERIODS. THE FIRST REQUEST IS WORKING NOW I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE SECOND TO HAPPEN. I'VE JUST STARTED MY THIRD PACK AND WILL BE GOING BACK TO THE FAMILY PLANNING IN HE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. WATCH THIS SPACE....... |

|
|
Hi, I have been reading about women who have come off Cerazette and within a few days have had a period or sight flow. I have missed a few pills because i have run out and I a currently away from home and thus my surgery. If I do not take it for a few days will I have a period? bearing in mind that I have not had a period at all during the 10 months I have been on this Pill. Also I worried about pregnancy, would I be ok if my partner uses a condom, seeing as we dont normally as I find them uncomfortable.
Please any replies will be very helpful. |

Also new to this site, not even sure how to post a reply ... here goes.
I am very much in the same position as you, although you are a stage further and have made that decision to come off the cezarette pill.
I have seen the health section and some msgs scared me to be honest, I wish you luck with trying and hope you let us know your progress. I am worried that it takes sooo long for this POP to get out of your system therefore takes time to fall pregnant.
