What do women think about men who don't drive?

I drive - my OH doesnt.

I have no problems with this until he opens his mouth and starts criticising me - ooh you're parked bout three inches off the kerb, think you should get nearer... etc - 3 foot = a prob, 3 inches = shut up!!

If a man is reliant on his wife/girlfriend to drive him then he should certainly not criticise her driving. My new partner is an excellent driver and doesn't mind being the one who always takes the wheel - she knows that she won't be criticised by me. As the passenger I just keep my mouth shut and leave the driving to her.

There are probably a few like me - is that an idylic moment of bliss in your imagination; you at the wheel with your man in the passenger seat, keeping his mouth shut, relying on you - the woman - to drive you both to your destination! How's the new city, new job by the way?

Awww! Well I've been in Oxford for 3 weeks now and I'm loving the change in speed from London (although I am conscious of the fact that I am in the honeymoon period ). The new job seems to also be progressing well. so all in all, I am very happy, thanks.

On other forums - have come across a suprising number of women who actually enjoy being the main or only driver. Others seem to be phelgmatic about it. for many it pisses them of though. Anyway I'm on foot again - but me not driving was not a major issue for split. Incidentally I can drive, but just like being driven by a woman. Any thoughts on latter point.

You can look at it a couple of ways. 1). He is not affraid to relinquish sojme control to the girl he cares about, or 2) he is smart enough to not let her get a look at his license plate so when he's done with her, she can't get all psychotic wondering why he didn't call the next day!

I've got my learner's license and have my test booked for a couple weeks from now but I like the idea of driving someone around who cant drive as they have no right to criticise and if they are doing the right thing, will just be grateful. I cant wait to be able to drive with non-drivers sitting in the passengers seat. At the moment mum is jumpy, despite me being ready to pass my test so any person who cant drive would be welcome in the driver's seat, man or woman...

Some won't drive because their sense ecological right an wrong won't permit them to burn gas, and contribute to the global warming US republican politicians swear up and down doesn't exist. Others are of the mindset that they can get where they are going on foot or bike and will be healthier for it and can entertain at home, leaving getting there the guests problem.

Others are just too cheap to want to buy and pay for a car, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and such.

I think it would depend on several things. Really whether a guy has a car or not doesnt make or break who he is.

But say if you lived in the centre of London, and worked 5 mins away. Nobody needs a car there. So on that front, it wouldnt matter.

i know a few men who don't drive for various reasons (including one who lost his licence for over a year, so his wife has to drive him everywhere ) and i don't have a problem with it, although that the way that some men get attached to their cars, coupled with a tendency to take over what they see as their business, means that it is a bit unusual, although not as unusual as it used to be. in any case, i don't make a good passenger - i'm one of those people who keep pressing imaginary pedals on the floor when i'm in the passenger seat - so i rather prefer to be the driver, regardless of whether the other person in the car is male or female.

the original question was directed at women, but i think it might be more interesting to find out what men think of men who don't drive!
