I've been invited to a wedding and a funeral on the same day and am unsure which I should attend. I knew the guy that died a bit better than I know the couple getting married.... I'm not an usher at the wedding, but I am a pall-bearer at the funeral... thing is though, I'd still rather get pissed up at the wedding than mope about at the wake.

Anyone who's done both in a day care to give me any advice ?

Go to the funeral then go to the evening do at the wedding! Most weddings run til the early hours of the morning, so go to the funeral and stay til around afternoon, dinner time then leave!

Is there really a contest?

You have two reasons to be at the funeral and only your own selfish desires to be at the wedding. Show some respect.
