Topless sunbathing - who decides?

Postby hjrudd on Sun May 27, 2007 7:41 pm

I go topless on the beach or in the garden all the time when its hot, but I only started going topless because my husband was keen for me to do it, but now I do it because I like to. Do you sunbathe topless? If you do, how does your partner feel about it? If you don't go topless, is it because your partner has views on it?

I do when I have the opportunity. My husband likes it sometimes but has certain reservations at other times. But he accepts that I am going to because I always have since long before I met him.

Sunbathing is bad for you.
I see stupid people,
Walking around like regular people,
They don't see that they're stupid...

I would think the neighborhood and local government might have something to say about it. Hopefully not, but if the gov can find a way to stick it to you, they will.

Unless they've had a very strict upbringing, most guys won't mind if a woman is topless. Although it is true the goverment may have something to say about it. Who's heard the story about the couple who were on holiday, and the woman had a bikini on, but a policeman said "I'm sorry ma'am but two piece swimming costumes are illegal on this beach." and so she took one piece off....? Seriously though I do remember seeing a topless sunbather at the beach, but she'd put her top back on when she went in the water, but her boyfriend wanted her to be a topless swimmer as well, mainly by trying to take her top off her while she was in the water.

I've sunbathed topless before, and none of my boyfriends have ever mined.
I don't require my man to have a big penis, i'd just love for him to have one. Good looks are what I require.

I do not sunbathe, but both hubby and I do not have any problems with going topless in areas that permit it. It is best to avoid trouble with the local authorities, if you are not prepared to fight the legal system.

Why is it up to what the partner thinks???? Your body, your choice. Unless you want to be controlled.

First it's whether you go topless or not, next it's how short your skirt can be, and then it's who you can have as friends or not....

The quicker the fella understands that you are an individual, the quicker you will get on and take the relationship to the next level..
If you do it you’ll regret it, if you don’t do it you’ll regret it, either way your going to regret it, you might as well just do it!

I notice the progression in your line of thinking stops before it is played out to conclusion. It is more than you suggest. When a man asks his woman to put a top on, or wear a skirt of a non exposing length, it is a matter of respect. Respect for the relationship in keeping some things sacred; respect for the woman to not be putting herself on display, which works into even more self respect for her. When one line is crossed, it makes it so much easier to cross the next line, and the next, and the next. Until the boundaries of the relationship are so blurred, there is nothing much left keeping it together. I don't see that as controlling, I see it as common sense.

I don't agree. I want my partner to be free, as I want to be free myself. I will love someone for them, rather that them trying to be something that I want them to be, and vica-verca. If you try to control someone be making them be something other than themselves, they will eventually stray.

But I don't see it as controlling. Mutual respect as well as respect for yourself, goes a long way in solidifying a relationship. I'm not saying "put your top on now." I'm more suggesting "please put your top on, who knows who any of these people are or there intentions." I think there are purely too many whacko puritanical types and those who are intent on getting internet material.

Hey, we see things differently, and that's cool. It takes all kinds to make the world go around, right? :D
