I notice the progression in your line of thinking stops before it is played out to conclusion. It is more than you suggest. When a man asks his woman to put a top on, or wear a skirt of a non exposing length, it is a matter of respect. Respect for the relationship in keeping some things sacred; respect for the woman to not be putting herself on display, which works into even more self respect for her. When one line is crossed, it makes it so much easier to cross the next line, and the next, and the next. Until the boundaries of the relationship are so blurred, there is nothing much left keeping it together. I don't see that as controlling, I see it as common sense.
