Ok, having been four times I'm reasonably qualified to answer this one. I have always found May to be an excellent time to go. Not too hot, not much rain at all. July it gets quite warm and when I was there last in July they were suffering severe drought conditions. Avoid the hurricane season June 1st - Nov 30th if this worries you, most hurricanes hit the Havana end of the island.

Have fun

Was that on the north or southern side of the Island, conditions can be vastly different because one is on the Carribean Sea and the other the Atlantic which is much rougher in general. At Las Brisas (name is a bit of a give away here) the afternoons are always quite windy with rougher seas, though no-where near as rough as we get in the UK obviously.

If the US Govt allow travel there again it will end up like any other Carribean resort, not a lot will change when Comandante Fidel has passed on from conversations with my Cuban friends (and look at what happened when the Miami Cubans thought he had died recently - nothing). however I have seen massive change there in the last 10 years, lets not forget they have the best health system in the world and one of the highest literacy rates (Higher than ours or the USA's), get rid of the embargo (helms burton etc) and there would be massive change for the good. Politics aside, I hope Cuba doesnt loose its identity and become just another Island in the Carribean/Antillies, many are the same, Cuba and its culture are unique and should be preserved.

Yup it is... as long as you are looking for a real cultural experience.
