If you're not changing your name, let people know beforehand. Otherwise (especially if you've requested monetary gifts) you may be inundated with cheques made out to 'Mr and Mrs X' or 'John and Jane X' and... if you're not changing your name, legally that person doesn't exist, you don't have a bank account in those names, and some banks could chuck up a stink at the idea of depositing them into an account not of that name.

NOTE: This will not stop people sending cheques made out to 'John and Jane X' etc. But at least you can roll your eyes and blame THEM.

Good advice I am off to a friends weddings and would have put Mr and Mrs but now will have to change it.
