is it ocd that when i had my ears pierced, i had to get them both done, and when i got home i took them out and repierced them until they were perfect!... is that normal?

Why don't you suggest wearing them for a month, and if they're still bothered, you'll agree to take them out. When they realize that you're still the same person, they might decide it's not a big deal.

Wearing earrings for a month and then going without any earrings could cause somepproblems later on if he ever wants to get his ears pierced again. When his ears are pierced he will be instructed to wear earrings 24/7 for four to six weeks until his ears heal. After four weeks his ears will be healed just enough that if he then stops wearing earrings the channels through his ears will close up, but the skin that has formed in the channels will remain. Later on, if he wants to get his ears pierced again, they will not be able to pierced them in the same spot. Also, after four weeks, even though the holes will close enough that he can no longer wear earrings, he may have a permanenet 'dimple' on each lobe where he ears were pierced that he will have to live with for the rest of his life.
If he follows you suggestion and then agrees to stop wearing earrings after four weeks, a better plan would be to continue wearing earrings every night while he sleeps. This will keep his holes open so that later on, after he is no longer living with his parents, he can wear earrings again if he wants.
Another possibility is to wear magnetic earrings for the four weeks so he will not need to have his ears pierced. For those who may not be familiar with magentic earrings, each earring consists of two separate parts. The front part, which is designed to resemble a stud earring, is held against the fron of the lobe wherever the person wants it to be. The other part is a small magent which is placed agains the back of the lobe. The magentic attraction between the two parts creates enough friction to keep the earring on the ear.
A suggestion I have made to other boys who were trying to convince their parents to let them wear earrings is to find out what their parents objection is to the earrings and address those objections with logical, mature answers. If the father (and.or mother) is into sports, point out athletes in their favorite sports who wear earrings. Also point out nice looking men who are wearing small, discrete earrings, so the parents will realize their son will not look like an undesirable character just because he is wearing earrings.
In this case the boy is 16 years old. I know two or three years seems like forever to a teenager, but he will be an adult in a few years and can then do what he wants.
