Check out the various cheap airline websites.....Travel 2 is a good one as is travelbag.
Look to change at Singapore if you can or Kuala Lumpar and try for a free stopover. KUL is so cheap its unbelievable....cost me more to take money out of an ATM than it cost me for a meal!!!
As someone who is from Adelaide ...The new international airport is fantastic. You can get a cab into the city or grab a mini bus at around 8 bucks. They will call at most of the back packers in Adelaide and also do drop offs at Rundall Mall and King William Street.
Adelaide is often seen as the last resort in Australia behind Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. This is unfair as South Australia isnt called the festival state for nothing.
Be sure to grab a pie floater outside Sky City and visit The Barossa wine region North of Adelaide - You can get a cabin in Tanunda for sensible rental. Jacobs Creek wine can be taken straight from the barrel.
If your budget can go to a hire car then you can take ride down to Cape Jarvis and a ferry to kangaroo Island - One tarmac road around the island - the rest are grit.....You will see real bush Australia and with nil light pollution you will never see as claer a night sky.
Hire a fishing rod and whack on some cockle and you will have fresh King George Salmon on a barbie within 10 mins.
The night life in Adelaide is fantastic without being in your face...everything from folksy bars to nightclubs catering for all tastes...Check out the Arkobar and PJ O'Neills.
Pick up the Adealide gazzette on arrival in Adelaide for a buck and there will be more than enough info to make you realise that Adelaide has stacks to offer
