I recently purchased a computer that is running Vista. I downloaded Limewire but Vista does not allow me to connect when I try to download a song.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Jay

You could try uTorrent. That's what I use. There's a version going around that has spyware though. The one on this page is safe: http://www.utorrent.com/download.php

I haven't used Lime Wire, so I don't know how it compares, but I'm totally satisfied with uTorrent because it lets me pick and choose which files in a torrent I want to download while ignoring the rest.
Brilliant stuff! Cool

Bit Torrent allows you to do that too, at least version 6 does. Limewire, and Frostwire, for that matter, depends on Java being installed, and working compatibly with your operating system. For some reason, it doesn't work, as downloaded and installed from Sun, on my XP-SP2. Consequently, could never get Frostwire to work either. Bit Torrent is much more versatile anyway.

Here's one - work out the amount of time you've spent on trying to make it work + the amount of time someone is likely to spend helping you to steal, then think about how much you'd have earned if you spent that time working. You could have bought what you wanted by now...

[hypothetically speaking of course]If you're talking about music, maybe, but if you're talking about some high-end graphics program, such as Adobe Photoshop, or 3D Studio Max, no way in the universe, unless you're a professional football player.

True - but if people who stole them could actually use any of those high-end products properly then they could easily earn enough to pay for them in a pretty short time...

At the end if the day people stealing software has had the same effect as taking food from my table, so funnily enough I don't tolerate it - and I'll stab you with my fork if I catch you.

I have photoshop cs2 & cs3 Extended

If I had been unable to "aquire" them for free would I have of bought them?

HELL NO!

they are good programs, ..but simply cost far too much to warrent me buying them just to play around with pictures, reason being I am not a professional in the photo industry so there would really be no point and it would just be waisting good money

and YES, if I could pirate food i'd do that too Laughing

And do you actually know how to use the stuff you've downloaded?
I'd reckon probably not, and you would be able to use software which is simpler that you would be able to afford.

Actually I DO know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PremierPro (or for that matter Final Cut Pro) as courses in their use was required at the college I last attended. But I couldn't afford to buy them, especially on a college student's budget, even at the reduced educational price--although I did actually buy an official version of Illustrator before I found out about Limewire. Since I actually had to EAT occasionally, I could not justify buying what I could pirate for free. Jackass! Or maybe I should just refer to you as "silver spoon", monosodium. Obviously you were born with one in your mouth.
