Explained before that you can't possibly know if I am a weirdo or not. Just because I have a differing viewpoint doesn't make me any more of a weirdo than you.

Go on - be a devil and string a few paragraphs together to say why YOU don't want total freedom of choice in dress or doesn't your vocabulary extend to that. :)

Well. I don't think William Shakespeare is likely to be challenged by this retort!

That guy in the skirt in the photo does look gay... and what's the deal with his hair?!

I'll wait till most men have 'discovered' the skirt as an alternative to trousers... For most girls, a guy in a skirt is a turn-off. For Quantius or whatever his name is, being white and middle-aged (probably with no friends as well  ) it doesn't really matter. But if you're in with your crew and are popular with girls like I am (I'm cursed with looking so hot), you'll kinda shoot yourself in the foot.

I've been seeing these 'men in skirts' posts alot on this site, but I'm surprised none of these 'men' like KiltyCol post pictures to support their claim. They mention their TV/TS site SkirtCafe and show links but I've yet to see any sensible reason as to why men should wear these things.

Why would I want to spend my day being careful that no-one looks up my skirt when I can chill in shorts and sit anyhow? Why would I be restricted by tight material that hinders my stride when I walk?

I think these guys have a fetish and are trying to destroy this forum by converting it into one of their own.

Proof positive - Alf can't string a cohesive sentence together (or I suspect a paragraph for that matter). Nor can he make a statement without invective.

For your information Guest (or whatever your name is) I am white and middle aged BUT with lots of friend of both gender.

No-where in this thread have I said I wear a skirt and, in all likliehood, I am unlikely to do so. My contention throughout this and other threads, however, has been that those males that do wish to wear skirts or whatever should have the basic freedoms to do so without ridicule from others - mainly men judging by the negative comments posted on this site - women that have posted are far more forward thinking.

I have not heard a sound argument that contradicts that right. Certainly Alf hasn't come up with anything convincing.

We are bound by social conventions nothing more and maybe those convention are due for a change. However with 'neanderthal' comment and views, such as espoused by the likes of Alf et al, it will be more of an uphill struggle - however c'est la vie

I think that a guy in a skirt looks just as sexy as a woman in a skirt. If you can't see any sensible reason for men to wear skirts, then what sensible reason can you offer for women to wear skirts?

Speaking to people on a Forum or on the Net doesn't make them your 'friends' mate :laff: I'm talking about real people. Hmmm. You don't wear skirts, eh? Don't lie :laff: we've seen your sort before

Mac, are you for real, what guy could possibly look sexy in a skirt? Haven't you considered how us guys sit? You'd want to see all that stuff first thing in the morning on the train to work if this 'fashion' caught on? :puke: Don't make me laugh, your almost as bad as that KiltyCol freak :laff: :laff: :laff:

It seems there are several men posting on this site who have a real problem with other men expressing an opinion which is different from theirs, and apparently have a desire to ridicule anyone who supports them.

Get a life!

There are good health reasons for men to wear skirts (I've heard many medical people suggest that men would be better off wearing skirts and women wearing trousers), and not all skirts are tight and restrictive. Also, not sitting with legs spawled as if to say "come and get me" would do most men a lot of good.

We all have opinions, and we need to respect that. Resorting to ridicule of the person, instead of addressing the issue, generally indicates that the writer/speaker doesn't have anything to contribute other than bias or prejudice, or is venting a fear of being different.

Let's get to the topic: Why can't men wear skirts?
The real answer is: Men can, and do, wear skirts (half of the world's men wear "skirts" every day as normal attire). Most men in western society, however, have a fear of being different (and thus standing out). The sort of ridicule thrown around by some posters on this site makes it difficult for those who don't have a cast iron constitution. If men want to be "sexy" for the ladies, and the girls are saying that a man in a skirt is sexy then shouldn't men be listening?

well, there's one man i see from time to time and as far as i can tell, he always wears a skirt. and he wears a necklace. and he has a moustache.

this may sound as if i'm making it up, but there really is someone like that around here.
