I don't miss floppy disks, especially the ones you stored an A grade assignment on and promised your student they could have........and then can't open them.
What don't you miss |

Okay, keeping to the computer theme for one second, I don't miss open reel-reel mag tape we used to backup mini/mainframe computer systems...having normally waited anything up to 12 hours for it to complete, only for the tape to come off the reel as it rewound and end up in a heap, completely unusable.....yes, we had to do it all over again .......
Them were the days.... |

LOL@Greg did you ever watch the Four Yorkshiremen sketch from Monty Python's Flying Circus.... "In them days we was glad" I have a feeling this thread may descend into sentiments of "You was lucky... I used to...

... my first car - an absolute bag of crap. I doubt if it would have gone faster than 50 mph if i'd driven it off a cliff! It failed it''s MOT on so may things it would have been much easier to list what was ok.
Scrapped it in the end - it never did pass an MOT while I owned it... |

I don't miss the 8th grade! Or my 3rd grade teacher. Or my dad, particularly. Or my 2nd or 3rd Company Commanders.
I don't miss the Atari 800 cassette drive. Or DOS 5.0. Or Word Perfect for DOS 5.1. Or Windows 98. Or dot matrix printers.
I don't miss Bonanza. Or Gunsmoke. Or the cheesy Batman or Superman TV series.
And I don't miss Jimmy Carter at all!! Or LBJ or Bill Clinton either. And certainly not Richard Millhouse. Or Nikita Kruschev. Or Leonid Brezhnev. Or Earl Warren. |

I don't miss the cold war and the constant threat of nuclear attack.
I don't miss school.
I don't miss my parents.
I don't miss America.
I don't miss cars with no air conditioning.
I don't miss handwritten letters.
I don't miss not having sex for the first 15 years of my life (what a waste). |

Aye pet, them's the days........

With all the lists folk are coming up with this could almost be a room101 thread! Sure is popular.
I sure don't miss being on a call-out roster (especially when it became 1 week in 2!), never-mind that the stand-by money was ok; driving 70 miles at 03:00 (yes I do mean 3am) several times to fix godforsaken computers for a certain police force; It soon lost it's appeal. "Best" one was getting called-in on a Sat night and witnessing lots of ladies in their clubbing gear ....whilst hauling a computer (think BIG and heavy economy7 storage heater) along a city centre street into the "reception" area, queueing(!) with those reporting crimes and basically kicking seven bells out of each other!! I came out unscathed lol
That's enough from me for now LOL...anybody still reading? LOL |

Ooohh that's Luxury!!!!!..you was lucky (said in Yorkshire)
My first car was flogged to me by a guy who didn't even let me drive it, he did a good impersonation of some-one who was 'breaking', since the car didn't have any... it was a splendid diarrhoea colour, and I actually got a letter from the AA who said they wouldn't come out to see me again to get it started, unless I got it sorted (or words to that effect)...
Happy Days....................
Manchester to Newcastle in 3hours flat and no beating it, no matter how hard I tried............... |
