Has anyone here ever had a gap year for travel? I've applied to uni but I'm not very confident about being accepted to any of my first choices and I'd rather apply again next year with decent A-levels than go to a uni which I'm not happy with.

Anyway, back to the initial subject. Basically if I don't get any uni offers I'm thinking about going travelling in 2007. I have at least £2000 saved up so it's something I could potentially afford. I don't know where to start though. Any ideas? Ideally I'd like a work placement somewhere so I could earn some money as well as having a break from my life here!
