I am finnally going to be wearing the clothes above over the next few weeks . I know it sounds goofy but after paying a fortune to have them dry cleaned I let them hang in the closet not wanting to see them get dirty again . I'll be mixing withmy regular clothes , monday may be in a blazer and plaid skirt from the sale and on tuesday in sweats or jeans . Should be interesting ! Especially to look for any differences in how people in general respond to me depending on what i am wearing .. Today to start it off in new clothes , a navy blue crewneck sweater, white shirt , and dark grey wool skirt . Nude pantyhose & my best blue clogs from Europe .Already I feel more sophisticated and mature. Just have to keep my mouth shut so my thick hillbilly twang doesn't come out .............Lena wrote:I grew up poor and never want to be again so for the last few years I have been a fanatic saver . A good way to cut costs is not getting trapped into the clothes buying fetish . Just like when I was a kid I still buy most of my clothes second hand . I do buy new uderwear and some clothes at outlet malls but am now buying alot at a second hand shop run by a rich peoples church where the stuff is top quality and barely worn . I guess rich people wud rather jsut go out and buy new clothes the go to the cleaners or get there hands dirty doing the wash themselves . A washing usually has it looking almost new .
Last week we went to a big rummage sale at a rich peoples jewish temple . It was just as good . One lady in her 80's had all these containers othat included her daughter's old clothes from probably the 1960's . Everything was pretty traditional ( been wearing that alot lately which for the first time in my life has me dressing with a distinct style rather then a usually clashing mix of different types of clothes ) , in good shape and about my size . For $33 I got 4 dresses , 5 skirts , 3 sweaters , 6 shirts , and 2 blazers ( one even has a crest on it of some private schoool ) and a ski jacket along with a beautiful wool scarf and about 6 pairs of stockings still in the original packages .Some of the stuff was tailor made , had labels that said " Custom Made by Malady's Tailoring for Marilyn King " I asked the woman if she has any more clothes and she gave me hger address . maybe some shoes ? We dropped the stuff off at the cleaners and the bill there wil be about 40 dollars so for 73 dollars I got several hundred dollars worth of clothes . I am so happy .
