| My dad took me out on his bike today and after going out, he told me to get off. So, I got off and he told me that the side I got on, I have to get off that side. Anyone know why? |

| Get off and on on the kickstand side (right when on bike). Center of gravity issue. |

As your in the UK sofie you should get on and off on the left, so your not stood in the road. Also most right handed people like you to get off the bike to the left. It just feels better from a weight distribution position.
SO?¿ did you enjoy it?¿ |

Shame about Sete on Sunday, the motogp site says he ran out of Petrol!! He could be looking for a job next year as they,ll move Danny Pedrossa up from the 250,s to ride for Movistar as they,re both Spanish |

| I'm glad you enjoyed that Sofie. I just went on my first trip on the bike, riding on the back ofcourse. It was so much fun. I just need to dress warmer next time. I do get on and off on the right side only since we live in the US. |

| Maybe because of the hot exhaust if its 1 side exhaust, or cause he gets prepared you get off that side, cause if someone gets off the bike the other side you think or when your not aware you lose your center of gravity and at worst you can fall. |

| I've got a scooter, but also have my full bike license although I've never taken a passenger. The way I think about it, you use the right foot for the brake, so you're going to lean slightly to the left side which is balanced by your left leg. Surely it makes sense for the passenger to get on from the left side so the rider can balance better? |

| The first Guest was right - get off on the kickstand side (should be the nearside) because it's safer (trafiic), easier (lower), and won't overbalance the bike. |

+1
Its always a good practice to get on and off from the kick stand side. The rider should have put the kickstand out before you or they get off. It will act as a brace/safety when you shift your weight to the left should the rider not have braced him/herself sufficiently.
Glad you enjoyed the experience. There's nothing quite like it, patricianly when you're in control of the handlebars with a high way of chicanes, s-bends and hairpins ahead of you! |

Riding bikes is almost as good as sex.
Just remember if your a pillion, NOT to try to stay vertical with the road when going around corners. Stay vertical to the bike [regardless of how much it leans] with your head only tilted up vertical if you like, just as the driver will be doing.
Trying to sit up straight on a corner actually tilts the bike over even closer to the road and can cause serious control problems for the driver and scaring him/her to death as well !! |

| i guess it would be safer to dismount towards the kerbside, in whatever country you are in.. getting off the other way would put in in the road, and liable to be hit! |
