Sorry to bring you all down, but I am in the process (well yet to start) of cancelling my wedding due for Xmas time.

My fiancee decided he wasnt ready for marriage after 10 years and 2 kids, and also that I wasnt 'the one' so its all off.

We've already paid £7000 towards everything - room, dress, food, dj, cake, invitations and stationery etc - does anyone know how I can minimise the financial loss?

With two young kids its hard to accept I could lose so much money!

Dear Denni,

I am so sorry for you, but I wanted you to know that you are NOT alone
2 weeks ago my fiance, decided that he did not want to get married so he
called it off and off course dumped me. Our wedding day was May 28th 2005... yep... in 3 month. Everything was done. We had been living together
for over 4 years, and we had a one and a half year engagement and he dicided to cancell it this close to the day. I have to move back to my parents house because I have now money... it sucks, I know how you feel!!
Take care of yourself,
Marry

Surely if you cancel it early enough you would be a ble to come to some arrangement with the booking people?

I just cant believe how men can be so gutless to let things go that far and then say hes not ready blah blah blah. What wimps these men must be!! Makes me sick when people cant speak up and just be upfront, say what they really feel!! Cussing

Your men are pigs letting you get so into the wedding preparations etc then calling it off!! Piggy

They should of never gone ahead with any of it, they have just given you more heartache now... I am very sorry!!

At least he told you, better than my wife. Just never showed up. Came home to find a long emotional note and no adress or number and the kids gone.

Until 5 months later when she came back after new bf had left her

Guest, that's unbelievable! I can't imagine how anyone could do that to a person they care about.

And Denni, I'm fuming on your behalf - fancy letting you go to all that trouble and expense, not to mention the 10 years of your life. I hope you don't lose out too much. Evil or Very Mad

I am so glad I can read other stories and know that I am not alone. Almost a week ago my fiance told me that he was calling off the wedding because he was not in love with me anymore. Of course that was after we had just moved into a house together, just the week before and I had spent so much money on things for the house. There have been many times I keep blaming myself for believing him. See the history before this was we broke up in Mar of 05 (his doing of course) and I took it very well. Unfortunately he changed his mind, yet again and kept chasing after me because he wanted me back, wanted to prove to me that he wanted to commit to me and that he did love me. He bought me an engagement ring and treated me like a princess. Because he was finally sweeping me off of my feet I believed everything and finally excepted his proposal. After a great 6 months and purchasing many things for the wedding, we decided to move into together. He seemed very excited, bought new furniture and talked about future times. The week prior to us moving in, he seemed to change. It turns out there is a girl he has been "in love with" all of his life but she only thought of him as a friend, and he recently found out that her marriage had broken up. I guess he thinks and maybe he does have a chance with her and that's why he dumped me again. I feel absolutely horrible and lost so much money. I know I won't let him ruin my life, but I thought it was all planned out and now I will have such problems trusting anyone Crying or Very sad But, I can honestly say it was a learning experience and I know I will meet the person that is right for me. Smile

i would check asap with each supplier- the rooms shouldnt be a proble, with this amount of notice, and demand wil alwas be high around that time anyway should should be able to resell..

dress? no idea, may need to buy if already made..

food & cake- would be astonished if anythinghas been made/ordered by the suppiers, so far in advance!

dj- as for the room. should easily find other people needing it.

think you may need to write off the initial costs (invitations etc) between you.
