Is Armageddon here? Do you believe in the end time?

Postby Cyrus on Sun Sep 17, 2006 5:09 pm

I wonder if anyone saw the, TV documentary (UK), called the “The Doomsday Code”?

Tony Robinson met people (called “The End Timers”), who wants the world to end as fast as possible so that they can get to paradise. There appears to be a “code” written in The Bible that is shaping our world by making a huge number of Christian believers (including the rich and very powerful), want to destroy the world!
The “The Doomsday Code” focuses on the Book of Revelation in the Bible, in which “God” is supposed to outline His plan for the end of the world by foretelling earthquakes, wars, plagues and famines.

America is said to be an apocalyptic country, and most Americans believe that the Apocalypse will occur in our lifetime, and most support George Bush on this. According to the Bible, the world won’t end until the Jews control the Holy Land. America is apparently making darn sure this happens, by fast-forwarding Armageddon through supporting groups of Israeli fundamentalists with money and supplies!

Our lives are directly affected by those individuals who believe that the end of the world is coming soon! If this is true then, no wonder most Americans are not interested in helping to stem global warming etc, it would seem that they would want the world to end!

Hum… worrying stuff, but if true, it’s a very real threat to all our futures!

I have included this link to the Channel 4 web site,

So what do you think of all this then?

I think a lot of ancient fortune telling codes pointed to 2012 as the start of a big war (that'll be WW three then:D). Haven't you heard of the PNAC, project for new American century, the plan was to have some big event (9/11) spur the west to attack the middle east in the pretence of wiping out terrorism, then the rest is History (literally!). The next steps are to create a fuss over Iran and Syria, which now seems to be happening, and Israel is mean't to be the big string puller behind it all (they're supposed to even control the USA as you've no doubt heard).Who knows/ i don't think it'll be the end but there will be big change.

I used to belive in all of this but to be real Im sure that when ww2 happend people thought it was going to be the end of the world and thier has always been truble in the midle east I will admite that the predictions are quite acurate but then alot of it could have been just commen sence and I think life is too short to worry about some pridction in the bible

A wise friend once said that the bible is just a means of helping us do a good deed (fear to keep us in line)

Think thats aload of bollocks personally. For starters Bush isnt a christian, why would he symbol the goat (a satanic symbol). Secondly the term apocolypse doesent mean the end of the world. Look throughout history, has the world ever ended? People have prophecised the end of the world for millenia, were still here. I think its a generalisation to suggest Christians want the world to end dont you think, a tad biased lol? Civilizations end, look at the Egyptians, its part of nature. Ill thought out, poorly expressed argument Im afraid :upyours:

How is the entire population of planet earth affected by "these individuals" who "allegedly" believe the end of the world is nigh? Enlighten me? It a amuses me the way you link the whole global warming debate with Christians and the biblical apocolypse.

Interesting to see that 'Marble' has responded to the recent thread started by Cyrus...........

For someone who professes to be well educated it was surprising that you have not heard of the great 'end of times' debate that is flooding the internet with all manner of websites devoted to this subject.

Wakeup, Marble and open your eyes to what is happening in the world at large. In common with many you may not believe in the end of the world happening suddenly whereby the 'faithful are raptured up into the heavens'. Who, indeed are the faithful? Should one be a member of a Christian Church to be in a situation to apply for a passport? What will happen to those who are of a different faith? There are all manner of questions opened by this debate.

What is of importance is the apparent lack of initiative on the part of those who believe in the concept and who are just prepared to sit and wait. Those who saw the programme may well have been appalled at the state of a country such as Uganda where the consequences of this debate appear to have the most disturbing of effects.

I for one admire Cyrus for bringing this very emotive subject to my attention.................

I saw part of the programme and was rather disappointed by it. Somehow I'd imagined that some academic had undertaken intellectually rigorous research which would shed some light on the book of Revelation - St John's vision on the island of Patmos. Instead it was about a grouping of fundamentalist American evangelicals who had a very literal understanding of the Bible and were determined, come what may, to see the events described in Revelation acted out. Having hoped for something more intellectually rigorous, I soon tired of the programme.

A very interesting, and intelligent, observation!

Thanks Annie. I have to say I found the programme rather underwhelming, but then realising who the presenter was, I probably shouldn't have been too surprised.

If there wasnt such mass misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the term "Apocolypse" and Armageddon, people wouldnt be in this mess religiously. Read Noam Chowsky's Book: Conversations on the edge of the apocolypse. :P

It doesent mean the end of the world.

Yeah disasters happen everyday. Its no different to ancient times, its creation. With reference to the millenium, not one christian I know was predicting the end of the world. The non-christians were the ones predicting planes were going to fall out of the sky. Its complete biased from groups always seeking to blame Christians.

They prey on peoples ignorance. Trace the root meaning of the term apocolypse and armageddon. Hollywood films are the bain they really are

Once again, you appear to be misinformed, Marble. This thread was not begun as a discussion with reference to a 'Hollywood Film'. It was a documentary created in the UK. If, however, you reside outside the UK you may not be familiar with it.

I am also interested by your statement that Bush is not a Christian. Would you please clarify.................
