Ade Edmondson is set to star in a special episode of 'Holby City' set in Africa.
The TV funnyman, who shot to fame in outrageous comedy 'The Young Ones', has already filmed the scenes in Ghana and is reportedly "thrilled" with the results.
In the episode, Edmondson plays a doctor running a charity hospital helping sick children.
The show, which will air on BBC 1 in July, is part of the network's Africa season to coincide with the forthcoming G8 summit.
However, fans hoping the comedian, who is rumoured to be resurrecting his comedy partnership with Rick Mayall for another series of 'Bottom', will come out with string of gags will be left disappointed as Ade has taken the role very seriously.
An insider said: "Ade is very serious about African poverty issues.
His role in 'Holby City' is a straight part - people will see a different side to him."
