Amy Winehouse has returned to the stage at the Glastonbury Festival amid controversy as she appeared to punch at a fan.

She lashed out at someone who tried to grab her hair as she finished her set alongside fans in front of the stage, her spokesman said.

Winehouse's one-hour performance was her first full UK show for seven months drew the biggest crowd of the day to the Pyramid Stage, her spokesman saying over 75,000 people watched and that organisers had never seen the field so full.

He went on to say that she lashed out when someone tried to grab her hair and she reacted, although TV footage was inconclusive as to whether or not she was provoked.

This was the Grammy-winners best performance and alayed fears that her voice had been damaged by her recent health troubles During her performance Winehouse jumped down into the security pit for the last two songs.

Winehouse thanked her fans for their recent support, before going on to perform tracks Cupid, Rehab and Tears Dry on Their Own.

By contrast U.S. Hip-hop star Jay-Z, could only pull a small crowd to his performance though he was greeted by chants and cheers.
