J.J Abrams' secret project Cloverfield has crashed into the UK box office knocking Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street off the top spot.
Starring a cast of unknown actor the film follows a group of New Yorkers who are on the run from a monster that attacks the city.
Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated Sweeney Todd, which has been criticised this week for false advertising by cinema go-ers who claimed that they didn't realist it was a musical, fell to number two after just one week at the top.
Over Her Dead Body, which stars Eva Longoria as the ghost of a woman killed on her wedding day and determined to stop her almost husband from falling in love again, was new at three.
Christina Ricci's Penelope was another new entry at number four. The romantic fairy tale follows a young girl's search fro love to break a family curse that has left her with a pig's snout.
Oscar favourite No Country For Old Men fell to five.

I do not know what the fuss is all about.This is one of the worst movies i have seen in years.I wish i had my money back.
