Coldplay will release a new EP by the end of this year.
The band had so much material left over from 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' - which was released in June this year - they decided to put the material into new collection entitled 'Prospects March'.
Frontman Chris Martin also announced a new album of as yet unwritten tracks will be finished by late 2009.
He said: "We're going to put an EP out at Christmas called 'Prospects March' and we're going to release an album next December to end the decade."
The singer also said the group may disappear in the same style as mythical villain Keyser Soze from 'The Usual Suspects' after the album is released.
He added: "And then we're gonna be, 'whooosh! Where've they gone?' Just like Keyser Soze."
