Britain's Peter Phillips is set to marry girlfriend Autumn Kelly at Windsor Castle next May.
Peter, the son of Princess Anne and her ex-husband Mark Phillips, asked his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, if the ceremony could be held at St George's Chapel and she immediately agreed.
There will be about 350 guests at the nuptials and his cousin Prince William, who Peter is very close to, may be the best man.
A source said: The queen is delighted he has named the day and the whole family are looking forward to the wedding."
Peter - the queen's eldest grandchild and tenth in line to the throne - met Canadian Autumn at the Montreal Grand Prix in Montreal four years ago.
The couple currently split their time between the Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, where they have a cottage, and their home in Edinburgh, where Peter works for the Bank of Scotland.
When he was born, 30-year-old Peter was the first royal baby in 500 years to be a commoner after his parents asked for him not to be given a title, which they also did with Peter's younger sister Zara.
