Peter Phillips' new job

4 months ago 10th Jul 14:00

Britain's Peter Phillips has joined his family's business, quashing rumours he is planning to move to Hong Kong.

Queen Elizabeth's grandson - whose decision to sell the rights of his recent wedding to Canadian Autumn Kelly to Hello! magazine sparked fury among some members of the royal family - is set to organise the Gatcombe Park horse trials in place of his father, Captain Mark Phillips.

Peter is quoted by Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper as saying: "This year seemed a perfect opportunity to become involved because of father being away at the Olympics. This is part of a much longer-term plan. It is something that has been on the cards for a few years."

The 30-year-old royal explained the role was perfect for him as he has grown up surrounded by equestrian competitions.

He said: "I cannot remember a summer without horse trials, so from that point of view it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I love it. It is a great fun event whether you like horses or not."

It was previously rumoured the newlyweds were planning to move to New York in a mid to escape media intrusion.
