Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Prince Mary have awarded actress Sonja Richter their Culture Prize for the third year running.
Ritcher, 33, who shot to fame in her native country in the 2002 Susanne Bier movie 'Open Hearts', joined internationally recognised Danish artists like Olafur Eliasson and Per Fly who have also received the prestigious accolade.
When presenting Ritcher with her 67,000 euro award, Frederik praised the actress' "incredible ability to reach out to the audience and touch us with an inexplicable strength that opens a path directly into the human mind".
He also called Richer a "diamond girl who has just begun to shine".
As well as recognising an artist for their work, the royal couple also donates 33,000 euro to a humanitarian organisation.
This year, Mary presented the award to Ventilen, a group that helps to build self-esteem.
The previous recipients of the sum were Save the Children for its anti-bullying programme, and the Danish Christmas Seal organisation for its on-going effort to prevent child obesity.
