'Humbled' princes

Last week, 08th May 14:00

Britain's Princes William and Harry were "humbled" after leading the Princes' City Salute to British armed forces yesterday (07.05.08).

The royals - who are both army officers - joined a parade of troops from the army, navy and air force outside London's St. Paul's Cathedral to help raise money for men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A message from William and Harry read: "They need to know just how grateful we are for the job which they do on our behalf so uncomplainingly and so well.

"We are both currently enjoying the privilege of seeing at firsthand the simply remarkable job which the men and women of our armed forces do."

They need to know just how grateful we are for the job which they do on our behalf so uncomplainingly and so well.

The event featured a flypast by Eurofighter jets and a Chinook helicopter display by the royal air force's 27 squadron.

The princes have so far helped to raise almost £1 million, which will be split between Help For Heroes and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA).

Ben McBean - a seriously injured marine who flew back from Afghanistan with Harry in March - was reunited with the prince.
