Royal News Russian billionarre refuses to deny affair

02-05-2006 12:52

The millionaire who allegedly spent four nights with Britain’s Princess Michael of Kent has refused to deny they are having an affair.

Russian tycoon Mikhail Kravchenko spoke for the first time on Saturday (26.04.06) about his relationship with the princess.

He is quoted in Britain’s News of the World newspaper as saying: “I won't comment on it. If I start doing so I would be immediately dragged into a situation which I don't want to be in — we just have normal human relations.”

He also said: “She's a noble, beautiful person — very young inside. In my whole life I have come across very few such powerful personalities as the princess.”

Kravchenko and Princess Michael sparked romance rumours after they enjoyed a short break in Venice last month.

The pair were spotted holding hands and kissing in public, although the businessman claimed the trip was to discuss “cultural issues”.

The millionaire – who is 21 years younger than the princess – lost his wife and only child in a car crash five years ago.

He says he has not been in a relationship since the accident.

Princess Michael – nicknamed ‘pushy’ because of her arrogant antics – first met Kravchenko last October, and toured his factory shortly afterwards.

It was reported that the princess was unimpressed with his designs, so the millionaire persuaded her to advise him on future trends for his furniture making company.

This week Kravchenko will accompany the princess and her husband Prince Michael on a two-day boat trip down the River Volga to install a new bell at a monastery in the city of Kostroma.

The monastery is known as the birthplace of the Romanov dynasty, to which the prince is related.
