Britain's Queen Elizabeth is set to make her financial accounts public, allowing people to see how much it costs to keep the Royal Family.
The figures, which relate to the period 2007 to 2008, show that the queen and other members of the royal family cost taxpayers 62p per person over the 12 months period until March 31, 2007.
The accounts also show the most expensive royal trip was the official visit to the Gulf and Bosnia made by Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, in February and March 2007, which cost a staggering £345,710 due to the chartered flights used. While the cost of royal travel rose by £100,000 to a massive £5.6 million during this financial year, the total cost of keeping the head of state and the royal family dropped by 0.3 per cent to £37.3 million, compared to the figures of the 2006 to 2007 period.
Sir Alan Reid, the Keeper of the Privy Purse - the monarch's private income - confirmed last year the queen does in fact switch off lights if she finds them on and no one around, in order to cut costs.
