5 out of 5 stars hits the spot   June 6, 2007

this is one of the scariest movies i've seen in a long time, it's a horror and it actually managed to do it's job - scare me good lol
i love how this film starts, it reminded me of *darkness* setting chills up your spine from the jump
intense opening scene, had me thinking i'd never be able to sleep again, period

any movie where the house is focus point will get you, home is meant to the *safe* place, only in such movies it's usually the last place you should be
an excellent film, horror enthusiasts will appreciate it
love it and recommend you watch it alone, with the lights off ;o)

i thought that this film was really good, it wasnt a gory film but psychological fear film which i prefer. all the actors play there parts really well.

Wow, i haven't had a film freak me out in a while, but this one totally did! the fabulous contrast of the sunflowers which are meant to be happy, with the dark and twisting house was incredible. I am always scared by children in films, but this one came across more as a protective fear, i have younger siblings and having freaky ghosts popping out at them and having them see them all the time, makes me want to find out whats going on to stop it happening to them.

however i did find the ending slightly disappointing, i know that we all want ben to talk again, but to maintain that freakiness throughout, it was better to make him mute right till the end, by having talk turns it more into a family drama. though admittedly i guess it could be disappointing either way

however that is probably the only thing i would complain about, the simple prettiness of kristin was good cause it wasn't overly pretty, causing it to go in to that category of screaming teenage blonde girls, she was just a normal girl, obviously not normal by having freaky ghosts and what not

for this price i definetly recommend, even if it was at it's original price i would insist you buy it!

4 out of 5 stars A very good thriller.   October 11, 2007

A very good thriller/horror film, much better than I expected. It's almost a mix of Amityville horror and the Grudge in many ways with the location and the effects for the Messengers! Good SFX effects and a good story, that might be a bit predictable for fans of this genre, make this an enjoyable film with a few jumps along the way. Compared to many other otherings of the same type recently The Dark, Darkness, Dark Water and even The Grudge 2 this is probably the strongest allrounder. So if you like any of them you should enjoy this.

4 out of 5 stars Full of jolts and scares!   November 1, 2007

The Messengers may seem like another typical horror, haunted house type film. And maybe it is, but the way it delivers the genre is different. There are many extremely chilling and well put together sequences that make the film scary and unique in many ways. The jolts never seize, which is a definite good point. There are also a lot of different types of scary moments, like jolty, creepy, suspensful, sickning etc... It isn't ridiculously gory, just very steady and awesomely crafted horror flick... watch.
