Amazon.co.uk Review Unsurprisingly, eyebrows were raised when it was announced that the classic 1970s sci-fi television show Bionic Woman was being revisited. And those eyebrows shot even higher when it was confirmed that former EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan was taking the title role. But the fears, in spite of what some early word may have hinted, proved unfounded. For the new Bionic Woman is surprisingly strong. The concept at the heart of Bionic Woman is similar, if not exactly the same as its predecessor. Ryan is Jamie Sommers, a woman leading an unspectacular life until she's caught in a horrific car crash. Saved by scientists, she's rebuilt with added strength and speed into the mix. And that proves to be just the start of the adventure. The full series is included on this DVD set, and there's plenty to enjoy with Bionic Woman. Alongside an assortment of welcome guest appearances, the show boasts good action, strong effects and plenty of entertainment. Sadly, it wasn't enough to save it in the States, where ratings have led to its cancellation. And that's a real pity. Because while it's not perfect, and occasionally the pace is slightly off, Bionic Woman is good science-fiction television. And do you know what? Michelle Ryan is really very good too. In spite of it coming to a premature end, it's still a show worth picking up. --Jon Foster

What a waste August 26, 2010 Ali M This was a truly excellent show with a great cast. It is really sad that it was cancelled so early. I hope Michelle Ryan goes on to be a huge star in the states as she is very talented.
Really good! But it has been canceled ... May 9, 2010 Mr.Mr. (Hamburg) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really love everything about this version of Bionic Women, and I am very sad about the show being canceled.
I am getting tired of getting emotionally into a series and then finding out that it is already no more ...
I don't understand how anyone can give this show bad ratings ...
Michelle! You did a great job with this! It's so unfair that it didn't make it.
Should not have been cancelled April 6, 2010 S. Carter 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I dont understand why people hate this so much. I think it is very entertaining and interesting. i have never seen the originals, but people seem to hate this because it is very different, but it would be rather pointless if it was the same! Anways, a great show that should not have been cancelled
Unfinished Series April 13, 2008 S. L. Couper (London) 13 out of 21 found this review helpful
It's a great shame this series was axed before completion.
I used to watch the original Bionic woman and loved it, but there is no comparison between the two. This is a worthy updated "Spooks-ish" version.
I believe the Americans didn't like the fact that "a little British actress" got the lead (Lee Majors words, shame on him!).
I was not a fan of Michelle Ryan but I think she did an excellent job and I will miss the program.
Ratings are good in UK but I doubt ITV will finance even one episode to give the series at least a proper ending.
With so much US trash imported over here...... shame shame shame.
eight episodes is not enough for this series April 15, 2008 Andrew Beet (UK) 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
eight episodes is not enought for this series. i have only watched the first five episodes of this series and i like it. love the fight scenes in it between Michelle Ryan'character and Katie Sackoff's character Sarah Corvus. in each of the five episodes there's everything action and some quite emotional scenes between Jamie and her sister. i don't like the character of Antonio Pope to me he has got a more ulterior motive. but overall i liked this series it's just a shame there's not going to be a second series.
