5 out of 5 stars Out on a Limb   March 20, 2003

I did not have an opinion either way about Heather Mills. After seeing her on TV where she mentioned her book I decided to read the facts about her myself. What a brilliant read and an absoulutely inspiring woman who overcame everything life threw at her and used her expereinces to help other people. I could not put it down. Just about to order ther follow up book and can't wait to read it. I would highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars An Inspiration   March 9, 2002

I've read this book twice, and Ms Mills' story could be a wonderful film. There is no room for self-pity with this woman, and that gives all people strength. I wish her nothing but success and happiness, especially in her landmine banning campaign, and in her life with Paul.

This book is deeply interesting. It helps you learn how to cope with the awful experiences life may bring to you. You can not stop reading it and, once you finished it, a new sense of living remains with you forever.

5 out of 5 stars You can't keep a good eight-year-old down   May 28, 2000

Although I'm fairly cynical about human beings, this book heartened me considerably. It demonstrates on every page that you can't keep a good eight-year-old down. It was at the age of eight that this bright, spunky child (and her sister and brother) were deserted by their mother and left to the tender mercies of their abusive father. There is no age at which she has no resources to bring to impossible tasks, and there is no mistake (and she makes a few) from which she does not learn. After successfully raising herself, establishing herself as a professional, and developing a social conscience in the most direct and natural way, she suffers a disastrous accident, one that would have set other people back months or years. Heather has about 5 hours to spend on depression before she starts bouncing back. She's funny, she's honest, and if she's after land mines now, they haven't a hope.
